The Senior Accountant will work in conjunction with the Sr. Services Controller and perform a variety of duties such as maintaining the general ledger, reviewing financial statements, preparing financial reports, assisting with audits and budgeting processes, and reconciling accounts. This person will be responsible for running a check report, checking invoices, processing AP, reviewing invoices, reconciliation of statements.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Act as a financial partner to the leadership team, providing financial analysis and commentary.
- Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis.
- Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
- Prepare collateral reporting.
- Analyze cost accounting data.
- Review and analyze job cost reports with project managers.
- Assist with cash flow projections and trending.
- Have a thorough understanding of job specific financial results, including job profit, under/over billings.
- Review monthly billings and in some cases prepare.
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers and Subcontractors.
- Manage final job close outs.
- Responsible for following up on past due accounts receivable with project teams.
- Responsible for any job specific audits and/or client year-end confirmations.
- Prepare and review job financial packages with Project Managers.
- Provide full support to our project teams.
- Willingness to take on special projects involving systems or special reporting.
- Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.
- Processing weekly/monthly certified payroll reporting.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate degree and/or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; Business Management, or other relevant degree preferred, or directly commensurate industry experience required.
- 5yrs minimum directly related accounting experience required.
- Viewpoint and Project Accounting experience an asset.
- Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Must be self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to read contracts to ensure compliance with billing requirements and controls.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy, demanding and team-oriented environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, but some flexibility is required as job duties demand.
