Who You Are
The Accounting Manager (R&D) is an integral part of a growing accounting team and oversees the R&D-related accounting close process primarily focused on clinical accounting. This position will partner extensively with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to ensure a thorough understanding of various R&D programs/initiatives in-licensing milestone achievements, and lead the accurate and timely completion of the R&D-related accounting close. A successful candidate is someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment, is result-oriented, analytical, has strong attention to detail, and is highly motivated to deliver excellence in their work.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly R&D-related accounting close to ensure accurate and timely completion of expenses, prepayments and deposits, and accrual accounts
- Review and/or prepare journal entries and related supporting work papers
- Ensure the quality of work product is in compliance with SOX requirements
- Review and analyze invoices, read contracts, and compare/ reconcile data to POs, budgets, and/or work orders to determine the appropriate accounting treatments
- Review the CRO budget tracker and ensure appropriate accounting estimates in the clinical tracker
- Develop and maintain clinical trials patient cost model and work with Clinical Operations to ensure the model reflects protocol and proper accrual assumptions
- Prepare R&D fluctuation analysis by segments (e.g., subsidiaries, programs, phases, etc.) as well as R&D-related general ledger account fluctuation analysis
- Review and/or prepare general ledger account reconciliations and other R&D analyses requested by management
- Liaison between the R&D accounting team and FP&A team regarding the monthly R&D Clinical activities under review. Guide the proper accounting treatment of R&D-related transactions
- Coordinate with other accounting team members in identifying, researching, and documenting significant accounting matters
- Manage the quarterly review, interim, and year-end audit, as well as tax requirements as it relates to associated activities. Drive closure of any internal/ external request/open items on a timely basis
- Identify opportunities to reduce the R&D-related accounting close cycle, enhance existing procedures
- Be a backup to the Sr. Accounting Manager, R&D
- Assist the Controller and other members of the accounting team on ad hoc projects, as needed

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements
- BA/BS degree in accounting. CPA preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience (combination of big 4 in Biotech/Pharma clients with actual experience in auditing R&D accounts and clinical stage biotech/pharma industry experience) - Highly preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (i.e., SAP, Oracle, and Netsuite)
- Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a complex environment handling different R&D (including clinical stage) programs of various affiliates and subsidiaries
- Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
- Results and goal-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye toward process improvements
- Excellent communication and written skills and collaborative mindset with FP&A and the business owners

At BridgeBio, we strive to provide a market-competitive total rewards package, including base pay, an annual performance bonus, company equity, and generous health benefits. Below is the anticipated salary range for candidates for this role who will work in California. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, educational background, location of residence and performance during the interview process.
