Product Lead
Fulfillment Infrastructure & Integrated Capital Stack
About Pylon
Pylon is the mortgage-as-a-service platform that enables enterprises to build and offer mortgage credit products on top of our APIs. We are on a mission to unlock access to America’s largest asset class. We build and deliver the underlying pipes that enable high growth companies and forward-thinking institutions to offer mortgage products to their customers. We’re taking an ambitious full stack approach – we provide everything required to go from taking a loan from application in the customer’s product environment to delivering loans to the capital markets. We’re backed by leading investors including Conversion Capital, Peter Thiel, QED, Fifth Wall, and the founders of Blend, Wealthfront, Ramp, and AngelList.
About The Role
We’re seeking an entrepreneurial Product Lead of Fulfillment Infrastructure. You will own all platform fulfillment functionality and work with our partners to oversee day to day customer lending activity. We have 4 core product pillars (1) APIs & SDKs (2) Command Center (3) Fulfillment Infrastructure (4) Integrated Capital Stack. You will start by leading Fulfillment Infrastructure & Integrated Capital Stack for the first 6-12 months. You will become intimately familiar with the mortgage origination process (if you're not already). We are not a traditional mortgage lender – we do not staff scores of underwriters or processors in-house.
Most of our customers handle sales & borrower support. If you’re excited by the idea of building flexible systems with rigorous human-in-the-loop oversight that can scale to thousands of loans per month, this role is for you.
You are expected to:
Be a visionary leader and builder with a clear perspective on how to build scalable, modular origination infrastructure from rate lock to loan delivery
Build a small, high leverage originations oversight team to manage day to day customer loan activity and extract embedded subject matter expertise
Own our internal operating systems and automate origination processes
Lead onboarding, integrations, and day to day operations with our capital partners
Evaluate and manage 3rd party operations fulfillment partners
Be a thought partner and build a strong feedback loop with engineering
Play an integral role in spec-ing, building, and launching support for new loan products
Be a strong partner to our GTM and Account Management teams – supporting the deal
process and ensuring our customers are successful
About You
Have strong, principled opinions that you’re willing to defend. We have a culture of vigorous discussion and debate on decisions. We’ll push you to articulate your choices, and defend them where necessary.
Are known to ruthlessly prioritize and maintain organizational focus. Our full stack approach is ambitious – you are constantly driving those around you to do the highest ROI work. You’re willing to say no to the best ideas at the wrong time.
Comfortable operating in highly regulated markets whilst optimizing for performance. Building compliance into our platform and respecting regulation is a non-negotiable. We partner with regulators to drive innovation in the face of technological advances and improve outcomes for borrowers. We play fairly, squarely and by the rules. We play to win.
Obsess over the customer and uphold the highest standard. We build for our customers and their borrowers. We will always do what it takes to make them successful on the platform. They are the beating heart of our business.
Scalable software approach first, and operational workaround last. A guiding principle at Pylon is that anything in the backend mortgage process done by a human is a bug. Mortgage is complex, and we can't automate everything right away. You’ll need to surface issues, lead discussion around the best long term solution, document it, and if we need to temporarily create a manual workaround, make everyone aware.
Manage many partners effectively. You will need to oversee numerous 3rd party capital and fulfillment partners to ensure high quality, on time originations. You will need to build deep relationships and drive consistent results.
Have great ideas, and lots of them. You should see opportunities all around you to make the product and team around you better. We’ll provide the environment to act on those ideas.
Be willing to get in the weeds and own the function over time. We expect all leadership team members to execute, not just strategize and hire. You will build out your team over time.
