Click Here to view our Collection and Privacy Policy. AMP is seeking a Facility Controls Technician to lead control initiatives within our AMP systems installation. Your primary role will involve planning, collaborating with Project Managers, technicians and contractors, and overseeing the installations of all AMP product lines. Additionally, you'll collaborate with the Automation & Controls Engineer on design, documentation, and feedback. As our Facility Controls Technician, your responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining a project motor/IO (input/output) list sourced from engineering data.
  • Collaborating with the Software Integration team to execute testing and commissioning projects at AMP facilities.
  • Maintaining the Factory Acceptance Test controls system, including PLC/HMI maintenance, ladder logic program writing/modification, and control panel management.
  • Formulating, executing, and supervising commissioning plans, including I/O, e-stops, motor rotations, hydraulics, and system adjustments across all AMP equipment.
  • Maintaining as-built electrical prints throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Defining, documenting, and overseeing compliance with electrical installation specifications.
  • Assisting Project Managers in vetting electrical installers to ensure timely and high-quality work, and offering controls support and training as required until project completion.
  • Stepping in to help with mechanical installation tasks as needed.

The successful candidate will have:


Required:


  • Proficiency in electrical controls.
  • Strong technical prowess in hardware or field engineering/technician roles, coupled with hands-on experience.
  • Exceptional proficiency with standard field electrical tools.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical drawings, including the comprehension of documented and undocumented schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of networking, ladder logic, and power sizing equipment.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with contractors and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Eagerness for continual learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Resourcefulness and a problem-solving mindset, known for finding effective solutions.
  • 5-9+ years of professional experience in the field or equivalent.

Preferred:


  • Experience in electrical wiring, manufacturing techniques, on-site assembly and installation of mechanical systems.
  • Executing some of the field installation work specific to low voltage wiring (jets, neurons, safety devices, etc.).
  • Experience in process or documentation creation (Gantt charts, P&IDs, process flows, etc.).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, such as in the military or as a field-team lead.
  • Technical training or personal experience in industrial field wiring.
  • Prior completion/documentation of Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) for system integration projects.
  • Proficiency with CAD systems and technical drawings interpretation.
  • Experience with industrial controls (valves, sensors, actuators, control systems).
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting VFDs and other motor controls.
  • A portfolio showcasing past projects and ability to articulate experiences.
  • Enthusiasm for robotics, artificial intelligence, and recycling.
  • Comfortable operating manlifts and working at heights.
  • Proficiency in standard office computer applications, including Google and Microsoft programs, PLC programs, VFD programs, and other control systems.

Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Travel Requirements: 


  • Frequent travel (up to 80%) to support installations or systems at various sites.
  • We anticipate a 10 day on, weekend off schedule during installations. When installations are not happening, we have a hybrid work arrangement in our Colorado office.

Equity Grant:

 The candidate selected for this role will be recommended for a stock option grant commensurate with the position and the candidate’s qualifications.
