Impact in this Role
Your role as Fictiv’s Assistant Manager/Manager Strategic Sourcing will focus on the intelligent sourcing, qualification, and distribution of work to our Manufacturing Partner network (they’re more than just Suppliers). At Fictiv, we believe in creating the world’s premier platform for hardware manufacturing, and you’ll be playing a critical role in making that happen.In this role, you’ll be using your educational background (degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in Manufacturing) and experience in supplier sourcing, qualification, onboarding, and development to manage Fictiv’s globally distributed Manufacturing Partner network.
This role will also need technical expertise to perform basic part inspections as well as lead root causes and corrective actions. We win every day because of the competitive advantage that our Platform, People, Processes, and Partners provide to our customers.You’ll forecast Fictiv’s capacity needs by service offering based on Fictiv’s demand forecasts (Yearly Targets) and correspondingly develop onboarding requirements to ensure we can not only meet customer demand but also maintain a healthy distribution of spend across each of our onboarded Manufacturing Partners. You’ll oversee our hub of partners in Bangalore that work on CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, Die casting, Forging, Extrusion and more. Where necessary, you’ll use your negotiation skills to increase engagement with strategic partners and implement terms to foster long-term alignment of business goals.You’ll work cross-functionally with our TPM team to define the logic for the distribution of work to our Manufacturing Partners, our Product Management team when bringing on new service offerings to ensure supply readiness, our Business Operations & Systems teams to define requirements for the systems we use to qualify, onboard, provide performance feedback to, and distribute work to our Manufacturing Partners, with our Costing & DFM and International Logistics teams to develop logic for landed cost calculations as an input into our automated platform quoting, and with our Quality team to develop Manufacturing Partner qualification criteria & internal spend distribution frameworks that optimize the likelihood of our Manufacturing Partners delivering products on-time and to specification.Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for ensuring we are building tight-knit partnerships with our Manufacturing Partners in India and that we have the right mix, capacity, and capabilities of supply to meet and exceed customers’ technical, lead time, and cost requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage Manufacturing Partner (MP) relationships- Carry out MP Onboarding Processes - source, evaluate, and onboard MP’s aligned with Fictiv’s platform and strategic objectives.- Negotiation - Negotiation of terms of relationship (e.g. Manufacturing Service - Agreements and capacity reservation agreements) with our strategic Manufacturing Partners.- Supplier Development Initiatives - Propose and develop engagement projects for assigned region with cross functional teams- Manage relationships to drive greater Manufacturing Partner engagement- Manage Fictiv’s domestic supply portfolio, ensuring transparency and optimization of spend- Execute against strategies to drive down COGS & lead time for the procurement of custom mechanical components within Fictiv’s supply chain- Perform should cost analysis as well as benchmarking (determining different manufacturing cost structures based on local factors such as material prices and labour rates)- Discover and partner with trustworthy suppliers working on CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, Die casting, Forging, Extrusion, Raw material, and Finishing suppliers (anodisation, primer, painting, plating etc)- Continuous improvement against the above
Desired traits
- 10+ years experience in strategic sourcing, global supply, and procurement with direct experience working with CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, Die casting, Forging, Extrusion and more.- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management and relevant software- Fantastic interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)- Ability to build close working relationships with suppliers, to empathize and think from the perspective of shop owners / suppliers- Comfortable with figures and collecting, analyzing and interpreting data- Solid judgment with the ability to make good decisions- Minimum BE/ME degree in mechanical engineering, supply chain management, logistics, engineering or business administration- Meticulous and detail-oriented- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills- Self-starter, manages time efficiently, ability to operate with autonomy within the region, able to complete work in a timely manner without active supervision.
