About the Role:
As a Qualitative Analyst specializing in Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit, this role requires evaluating customer research activities to determine eligibility for the R&D tax credit. Responsibilities include conducting customer interviews, analyzing qualitative data, and developing substantiation materials that articulate how customer research aligns with the four-part criteria for the R&D tax credit. Candidates will need to learn, develop and utilize expertise in R&D tax credit qualification criteria, communication skills, computer proficiency, and professionalism to ensure accurate assessment and documentation of eligible activities.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Evaluate and assess customer data and make a qualification decision
- Conduct client outreach via emails or phone calls to gather data regarding qualification criteria for the R&D tax credit
- Navigate our CRM and portal platforms to update qualification status
- Monitor client completion of Qualitative surveys to review and develop substantiation reports
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree of a minimum of 2 years experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, Compliance, Business Communications, or any writing fields.
- In-depth knowledge of the R&D tax credit qualification is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and draw meaningful conclusions
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Salesforce CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs
- Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential client information and interacting with customers
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating adaptability and attention to detail
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $31.25 - $37.02 in Denver & most major metro locations, and $38.95 - $46.54 for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role).
The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
