Toast is scaling rapidly and with that growth comes an exciting new opportunity to join our organization in Bangalore R&D center. Toast is looking for a Software engineer-I to work in quality enablement platform team building, enhancing , maintaining and supporting test frameworks and infrastructure. You will be part of Toast’s Technology Foundations organization, and be part of a centralized enablement team whose priorities include enhancing selenium/appium based framework, test infrastructure, continuous testing , working on test automation problems to enable different lines of businesses by building reference implementations , training and documentation of test solutions across SDLC. We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about quality and its automation having hands-on experience with Java + Kotlin, testing frameworks like Junit , libraries like selenium, Appium, Rest Assured etc.
The candidate should display learn and be curious about learning other tools like Playwright, Espresso, XCUItest etc. If you want to build scalable and reusable automated testing solutions across the test pyramid that will be used every day by multiple engineers to increase their efficiency and take on the challenge of enabling high quality and innovative test automation products this role at Toast would be the place for you. About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Quality mindset with bias and curious about developing, maintaining and enhancing automated testing solutions.
- Individual contributor working in collaboration with peer SDETs, QAs, development engineers to refine requirements, designs and solutions.
- Partner with our Test Infrastructure team and other people working on automation to solve problems, share , learn and adopt best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills to unblock teams.
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- 2+ years of strong software engineering experience in object-oriented programming languages like Java, Kotlin and shell scripting.
- Hands on experience writing Web and API tests.
- Passionate about building scalable automation products.
- Test Infrastructure knowledge with specialization in cloud tools (Docker, ECS, ECR, jFrog, kubernete etc),github actions, jenkins etc.
- Strong written, verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Growth mindset with an emphasis on continuous learning and improvement.
- Decent understanding of SDLC and QA processes.

Tech Stack:
- Toast Mobile Android POS app built in Java & Kotlin.
- A core of Java & Kotlin-based backend services using REST and GraphQL architectures.
- React SPAs leveraging Tailwind, GraphQL and Storybook.
- PostgresQL and Dynamodb as core persistence.
- Pulsar, Camel and RabbitMQ for message-based integrations.
- iOS and Android native apps.
Test Frameworks:
- Inhouse built testing framework integrated with Appium and Selenium for comprehensive end-to-end test automation across both Toast web and Toast mobile platforms.
- Employ a diverse array of tools such as Espresso, XCUITest, PACT, JUnit and others for conducting component tests efficiently.
- Leverage RESTAssured and various client libraries to facilitate seamless API automation.
- Gatling and JMeter for performance testing.
