About The Role
We are looking for a Director, People Operations to join our Employee Success (ES) team in Chicago. This role reports to the Chief People Officer, will manage a global team and will work closely with other Employee Success team members. You will serve as the subject matter expert in employee relations, benefits, and people operations, and will partner with the business on all people matters (in partnership with the ES team and cross functional partners). Your team will serve our global offices in US, UK, India and all remote employees.
In This Role, You Will:
- Lead a team of world-class global business partners to build strong relationships on all matters of talent management and workforce planning to drive G2’s business forward,
- Partner with business leaders and lead all internal employee relations issues including but not limited to involuntarily terminations, employee complaints, performance improvement plans, conflict resolution, investigations (in partnership with G2’s employee relations investigator), and any organizational changes
- Manage employee termination procedure to ensure terminations are processed fairly and consistently across the organization, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Serve as an excellent cross functional partner with finance, legal, GTM Ops, and within ES (data and analytics, employee experience, and talent acquisition) to achieve overall vision of enabling employee success to facilitate G2’s long-term success
- Manage annual benefits renewal for all G2 offices, make recommendations on benefits to add/change in order to remain competitive in the marketplace in partnership with G2’s benefits broker
- Own the annual merit cycle, and collaborate with other leaders of the ES team on the performance management process.
- Utilize data to drive continuous process improvement across ES most critical, cross functional processes to drive speed, efficiency and quality.
- Continuously monitor federal and state updates in employment law and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Become familiar with international employment law and practices in partnership with G2’s legal team.
- Manage all employee leave of absence including Parental Leave, STD, LTD, FMLA, California leave, etc. Manage all expatriate assignments, visa renewals, and immigration for all global employees.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Typically, 10+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, People Ops Manager, or Director working closely with managers with experience leading people
- Experience in a fast-paced environment in the tech or startup space ideally in matrixed structures
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive strategic decisions
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with ability to present a clear and strategic point-of-view to senior management while being able to defend and voice the thought process and rationale behind recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, especially Slides and Sheets
