We are backed by legendary VCs and industry experts like Founders Fund, BOND, and Coatue.As a Data Scientist at Workstream, you will leverage your deep expertise in Python, SQL, and machine learning (ML) to push forward our data-driven product initiatives. You will be working closely with our product teams to help them understand our customers needs and drive growth through innovation and data insights.
You will be building and maintaining ML pipelines to enhance our product offerings and customer experience. Your role is critical in synthesizing complex multi-product data into actionable insights, directly influencing our strategic direction and product development.
Day in the Life:
- Be the champion for a data-driven culture at Workstream.
- Participate in end-to-end business intelligence and ML projects from requirement scoping to rolling out clean, well-produced user-facing products and internal dashboards that inform business decisions.
- Conduct advanced analyses to uncover insights that inform product development and strategy.
- Design, build, and maintain ML pipelines, with a strong focus on NLP, text mining, and recommender systems to support product innovation.
- Engage in continuous learning and development to stay ahead of the latest trends in data science and machine learning.
- Adopt industry best practices and tools to work efficiently at scale.
Who You Are:
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for building data-driven and ML-powered products.
- Experienced in working closely with SaaS product teams.
- Able to quickly master complex multi-product data models.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex analytical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to translate the company’s strategy into success factors/metrics and use data to guide business/product decisions.
- A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with significant prior experience in data science or machine learning roles.
- Expert in SQL who can navigate and analyze complex data structures.
- Proficient with dashboarding/data visualization tools
- Proficient with Python and able to write big data pipelines for ETL and modeling (Spark/Airflow/etc) as well as modern tools and frameworks for building and managing ML pipelines.
- Familiarity with data lakes and data warehousing concepts.Expert in experimental design and analysis.
- Strong background in NLP and text mining, with experience in topic modeling.

In compliance with the British Columbia Pay Transparency Act, the base salary range for this role is between $140,000-$165,000 CAD. This range is not inclusive of our equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
