Position Overview
Verra Mobility is hiring a Tax Accountant. The successful individual will be responsible for providing support for the annual Federal, state and foreign income tax returns and the quarterly tax provision. The individual will record and reconcile tax account balances and activity in the general ledger, manage estimated tax payments and forecast, draft technical accounting memos, coordinate responses to state and local tax auditors and assist with various projects including process improvements and acquisition integration, among others.
Essential Responsibilities
- Calculate Sch M book/tax differences used to prepare the quarterly estimated payments and annual Federal and state income tax return
- Evaluate income tax compliance software solutions, including income tax, tax provision and fixed asset systems and assist with the transition of externally prepared tax compliance to in-house
- Prepare the quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC740, including the reconciliation of tax accounts and preparation of disclosures
- Prepare tax-related journal entries and account reconciliations during month-endand quarter-end close
- Assist with various income tax audits and other tax-related correspondence
- Assist with information requests for foreign income tax, VAT and statutory financial reporting and compliance
- Complete tax projects, including fixed asset system implementation, transfer pricing analysis, TRA calculation and business credits and other tasks as necessary
- Perform tax research, analysis and draw conclusions as requested by various departments including HR, Legal, Payroll, Operations, and Finance
- Complete tax-related SOX compliance reviews and quarterly controls testing as well as gathering controls documentation
- Prepare taxable income projections and forecasts of cash tax payments
- Analyze changes in tax law and related new company processes and procedures
- Work with the due diligence and integration teams to evaluate and merge tax procedures and compliance of acquired businesses
- Assist tax department with written documentation of tax policies and procedures
- Perform tax related administrative duties as required
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting
- 2-4 years from a national public accounting firm or relevant industry experience preferred
- 1+ year tax compliance and/or tax provision preparation experiencepreferred
- Knowledge of Federal and state income tax compliance, and familiarity with implementing/using leading income tax provision and compliance software
- Working knowledge of income tax laws including TCJA, US GAAP and SEC reporting, and Sarbanes Oxley requirements
- Evidence advanced skills in utilizing Excel and Word applications
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people cross-functionally, including with departments throughout the business having varying personalities
- Strong problem-resolution and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including summarization of detailed data
- CPA and/or Masters’ Degree in Taxation is preferred
