Our Team


The Operational Readiness Team at HashiCorp is tasked with tackling several critical challenges to enhance our cloud products' scalability, performance, and reliability. This team's foundational work includes conducting extensive load testing and evolving into developing maturity and deployment models to improve operational efficiency and mitigate potential issues. Key areas of focus include load testing for scalability and performance bottlenecks, production hardening tests to ensure reliability against unpredictable loads, and environment automation for safer, more efficient testing practices.

About this Role


As an Engineering Manager for the Operational Readiness team, you will lead a strategic effort to improve our cloud products' operational readiness. This role encompasses driving initiatives around load testing, production hardening, and developing comprehensive strategies for deployment models and scalability solutions.

In this


role, you can expect to:


  • Have 8+ years of total experience, with at least 1+ year in a management role, ideally within an infrastructure-focused team.
  • Lead the Operational Readiness team to address current scalability and testing challenges, ensuring cloud products can meet future demands efficiently.
  • Develop and implement load testing strategies to identify performance bottlenecks and scalability limits, enhancing product reliability and user experience.
  • Oversee production hardening tests, focusing on system resilience against unpredictable customer behavior and resource oversubscription.
  • Spearhead the creation of replica environments for risk-free testing, leveraging environment automation and synthetic data seeding.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including RelEng, to refine deployment models, emphasizing progressive deployments, blast radius reduction, and feature flagging.
  • Guide the team in expanding load testing methodologies, including stress, breakpoint, and soak testing, to comprehensively assess product performance.
  • Mentor and grow a team of engineers dedicated to operational excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and project management skills, with a track record of mentoring engineers and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Show a proactive approach to problem-solving, capable of anticipating and mitigating potential issues before they impact customers.
