Role
We’re building a best-in-class, vertically-integrated, consumer healthcare brand and are looking for an exceptional engineering manager who will be responsible for leading and growing their team, and is passionate about cultivating a high-performance and people- and outcomes-centered culture. This role reports directly to the CTO.
What You’ll Do
- You’ll directly contribute to democratizing oral healthcare by leading and developing a highly-skilled team of engineers that are building the technology that makes the magic happen
- You’ll manage a team responsible for mission-critical systems, that is calibrated to Candid’s values, mission, and strategic vision; you’ll contribute technically, as needed, to projects alongside your team
- You’ll partner closely with Product, Quality, and Manufacturing, and stakeholders across the organization to plan and deliver innovative products/features that not only delight our wide array of users, but propel the business forward
- You’ll put the care and feeding (i.e. health, happiness, and productivity) of your team first, working with each of your engineers to help shape their professional development as a continuous process, and aligning workstreams with individual development goals
- You’ll proactively identify areas to improve developer efficiencies, internal processes, rituals, and systems, and be a data-driven change agent leading or advocating initiatives that uplevel team/organizational efficiency/health by formulating thoughtful, robust, executable strategies that anticipate future needs

What You’ll Need
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience
- 2+ years of experience managing, building, and mentoring engineering teams
- BA/BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- Proven track record of leading teams to deliver complex technical solutions on time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bonus:
- Experience with frontend technologies and web frameworks such as React, NextJS
- Experience with Python/Django, Javascript/Typescript, GraphQL, NextJS
- Experience with Redux, PostgreSQL, Docker, Terraform, Redis, AWS

Our range for this role is $160,000 - 180,000 USD. Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other perks. To determine our range, we consider as many of the following data points as are available to us: external market salary survey data, experience level, skillset and balancing internal equity relative to our other employees. We include equity in our compensation packages because we believe our employees should have an option to purchase ownership in the company and benefit from what we hope will be a lot of upside growth.
We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Candid to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
