About the Role
As the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Program Manager you will be responsible for implementing structures, processes, and behaviors to achieve performance targets and acquire a California Certified Organic Farmers(CCOF) certification in coming months. Additionally, you will ensure our fulfillment and production centers are in compliance with all relevant food safety regulations to pass audits and elevate the customer experience with Safe Quality Food and Organic Integrity throughout the entire supply chain.You will ensure that Good Eggs facilities and our valued vendor partners are in compliance with all relevant city, county, and state regulations on an ongoing basis.
You will also create and maintain a transparent vendor compliance program that supports the verification and onboarding of farms, ranches, and food facilities. As a program manager, you will focus on project management, analysis, continuous improvement, and execution of strategic plans to achieve performance targets as they relate to food safety and quality assurance. You will be evaluated based on key performance indicators within your specific areas and will work closely with the leadership and management teams across the company to drive expected results.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure GMPs/SSOPs, SOPs, and food safety plans are up to date, relevant to our growing marketplace, and actionable for line-level employees.
- Create and implement programs that provide full traceability of critical control points throughout the supply chain.
- Develop programs that span in complexity from box in-box out to in-house production across multiple locations.
- Review, update, and own a system of labeling (allergens, ingredients etc.) programs for in-house production.
- Analyze and regulate the risk of our production kitchen processes for shelf life, product integrity, customer experience, and risk to the brand.
- Review, schedule and maintain all local, county, state, and federal regulatory documents across all facilities in multiple locations, including health departments, agriculture departments, FDA, and all other governing bodies we may apply for as we grow our business.
- Support onboarding of new vendors which includes: incorporating their food safety processes & plans, performing vendor reviews/site visits, and updating food safety requirements for producers supplying us with products.
- Prepare quality SOP for vendor quality at the dock as well as through the FC
- Implement SOP training on seasonal produce quality, cold chain etc using a critical control point process for QA/QC
- Partner with respected third-party certifiers and deepen our commitment to transparency and integrity as we reimagine the food system.
- Assess areas of risk within Good Eggs’ operations,, then identify and prioritize solutions.
- Create and update mock audits for facility leadership to conduct around any areas of risk (food storage, temp abuse, etc.).
- Evaluate food production equipment at our production centers for food safety viability and shelf life integrity. This could include special handling equipment such as modified atmosphere and nitrogen purging for shelf life.
- Implement, manage, and update food safety (GMPs, SOPs, sanitation, etc.) and HACCP plans across all facilities.
- Implement, update, and review Good Eggs’ certifications and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee Food Safety, organic and quality steps, and tasking for onsite; QA/QC employees across facilities.
- Develop a Train-the-Trainer program and materials to ensure all employees are following proper protocol.]
Qualifications
- 4+ years of prior food safety experience within supply chain and food operations environments is required
- Food safety education or equivalent certification or degree
- Safe Quality Food (SQF) experience and education
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) education and experience
- Experience developing Food Safety programs and related documentation
- Experience with Food Safety training for a large, non-exempt staff
- Substantial experience in regulatory issues in the food industry
- Strong communication skills, both spoken and written
- Proficiency in GSuite and Microsoft Office software (i.e. spreadsheets, presentations, and word processing software
- Ability to train and inspire managers and employees
- Ability to communicate well with technical users, non-technical users, and all teams within the organization
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
