What We're Looking For


Cross River’s Risk team is looking for a strong, experienced Risk Manager to join the team. This candidate must be self-motivated, results driven, and can work across different teams to support daily risk activities.In this role you will assist the Head of Operational Risk and Director of Risk Identification and Assessment in implementing the Bank’s Operational Risk Management programs.  The Risk Teamcares about results, not activity, and we have fun doing it.  If you are a sharp thinker and problem solver, this will be a rewarding career opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:


  • Risk Control Self-Assessment responsibilities:
  • Support the evolution of the RCSA program.
  • Engage leaders throughout the organization providing clear expectations for the program.
  • Coordinate and conduct RCSA workshops/meetings, working hand in hand with process, risk, and control owners to accurately capture data.
  • Utilize data for enterprise program analysis, value added reporting, and business action.
  • Provide exceptional partnership while driving accountability within the business.
  • Work to understand and then incorporate multiple partner assessment outputs into the RCSA framework, streamlining business activity and finding efficiencies to both manage risk, and simplify the framework.
  • Leverage Archer as the central repository and tool for RCSA.
  • Further develop existing training and engagement model.
  • Support building out of controls and quality control within the RCSA program.
  • Support ORM team members in coordinating and conducting targeted and/or adhoc risk assessments, including documenting and assessing internal controls.

  • Targeted Assessments responsibilities:
  • Leverage the existing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool to identify and quantify operational gaps and opportunities for risk reduction and/or remediation.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to perform targeted assessments based on the RCSA, business needs, audit request, or regulatory requirement.
  • Independently perform assessments through line of business owners’ engagement, policy review, and existing data, providing quantifiable and tangible suggestions for improvement.
  • Work within the ORM team, gaining consensus, to make clear distinction between remediation requirements and recommendations (as needed).
  • Continue to develop the Targeted Assessment program, finding efficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop additional tools (as needed) to right size the targeted assessment methodology and approach.
  • Work with Archer developers to optimize target assessment data capture and value in the system of record.
  • Develop roles and responsibilities, and procedure, for the Targeted Assessment program in alignment with the ORM Framework policy.

  • Other responsibilities within ORM that may require support:
  • Design and deliver metrics and key indicators to assess the Bank’s risk exposure.
  • Assess, evaluate (and build where required) risk models to identify, assess and track risks across the bank.
  • Collect, evaluate, and maintain data for risk quantification, assessment, and mitigation.
  • Recognize, understand, and analyze root causes, patterns, or trends that could result in risk to the organization. Identify and implement corrective action where appropriate consistent with ORM objectives.
  • Maintain and enhance cross functional business relationships.
  • Support in the development and responsibilities aligned to Incident Management and Control Testing programs.
  • Archer engagement in the development of programs in the system of record, as well as import/export accurate data as needed.
  • Support in the development of risk training material and delivery across the enterprise.
  • Support in the enhancement and continued evolution of the CRB risk culture.
  • Assist the CRO, VP ORM, and Director ORM in performing risk management duties as outlined in the Risk Policy, ORM Framework, and program procedures.
  • Additional departmental asks as needed.

Qualifications:


  • BA/BS Degree.
  • Minimum of five-seven years' experience in risk management at a bank, credit union or a fintech institution.
  • Experience in managing and/or reviewing of Risk Controls Self Assessments.
  • Experience analyzing operational, regulatory, credit, legal, fraud, reputation, strategic, and transaction risk.
  • Excellent knowledge of lending, deposit products and services support structure including experience implementing/monitoring an ERM/ORM or Internal Audit program.
  • Knowledge of lending and/or deposit consumer compliance laws/regulations/areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Exceptional collaboration skills and a desire to work as part of a high-performance team.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results oriented, ability to meet deadlines and meet competing deadlines.
  • Integrity, ability to work independently, and strong problem-solving skills.
