ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an Engineering Leader for our Application Platform group, which provides a foundation for the rest of Benchling to build on, making it easy to guarantee that all applications on Benchling share mission-critical capabilities, and are secure and compliant by default. Our Application Platform is critical to enable Benchling to expand its footprint into new product areas, and support requirements for our enterprise customers. As the leader of this group, you will manage multiple engineering teams working on Identity & Access Management, core application platform capabilities like Rules, Notifications, Configs, etc, and management of the lifecycle of tenants in our multi-tenant enterprise environment.
You will work with product leads to build and execute the long-term vision for the group.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, develop, and lead a team of outstanding engineers and managers on the Application Platform group
- Partner closely with product and other engineering teams to define roadmap and long-term strategy for the Application Platform
- Build core Platform components that provides leverage for the rest of the engineering organization
- Help close enterprise readiness gaps by providing some of the critical functionality requested by enterprise customers and prospects

QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as an engineering manager, with 2+ years of experience managing managers
- 5+ years of experience building enterprise software as a software engineer
- Experience building, scaling, and operating platform services in production
- Experience working closely with multi-functional partners in product, design, and engineering
- A track record in guiding your team to make technical and roadmap decisions, drawing clean boundaries between teams and architecture layers
- A strong understanding of multi-tenant cloud architecture
- Grown high-trajectory, early-to-mid-career engineers into leaders with company-wide impact
- Willing to work onsite in our SF office 3 days a week!
SALARY RANGE
Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location.
