The Role


We're looking for Summer interns to join our front-end engineering team! Engineering internships at Bitly are paid, hands-on experiences where you will be doing real work that has a meaningful impact to our customers and our business.Our engineering team works on challenging product-focused problems and handles over 8 billion clicks per month for people and businesses all over the world. As an intern, you’ll have all the support you need to make an impact on our growing business. From day one, you will be part of a feature team where you will receive mentorship and get to meet people from each part of the business while gaining practical, real-world experience. We have a friendly, inclusive culture that's built around helping each other improve and learn.

What You'll Do


  • Get hands-on technical experience from day one
  • Learn tools and skills to work in an agile development team
  • Help develop features for our SaaS platform
  • Collaborate with our design and product teams to create engaging customer experiences
  • Assist with component testing, codebase maintenance, and site optimization
  • Gain experience with the full software development lifecycle from design and architecture to development, testing and release

  • You have a solid understanding of software engineering basics
  • You have a demonstrated interest in learning and a creative mindset: you can find new ways of looking at and solving problems
  • You are resourceful: you may not know the answer, but you know how to figure it out
  • You thrive in a highly collaborative environment and are an excellent communicator
  • You take the initiative in addressing issues or seeking support from fellow team members
  • Bonus: experience with React, UI Testing, component-based development and knowledge of UI/UX design principles

Interview Process


  • Submit your resume along with a brief cover letter (1 paragraph is more than enough!)
  • Once your resume has been submitted, we'll review it and qualified candidates will be invited to submit a code sample. This can be something you’ve worked on for school, a bootcamp, or a personal project– any code you’ve written that you are proud of! Since this is for a FE role, preference is for a FE code sample but not a requirement
  • Our engineers will review your code sample and qualified candidates will be invited to a screening interview with either the hiring manager or talent acquisition team
  • The final step in the process will be an opportunity to meet with the broader engineering team where you’ll talk through your code sample and tell us more about your experience
  • And that’s it!

Intership Duration


The internship is a 10-week program beginning June 3rd, 2024 and running until August 16th, 2024 (with 1 week off during the week of July 4th)
