Your future position


Participation is crucial in the architectural design, product development, and data science initiatives, focusing on crafting and deploying applications for both Kpler and MarineTraffic platforms and addressing the needs of our internal and external clients. As a key member of the Compliance product team, you'll play a vital role in our objective to transform vessel compliance and risk management. We're committed to enhancing maritime safety, regulatory adherence, and operational efficiency through cutting-edge technologies like machine learning and predictive analytics.

Your contributions will be instrumental in providing clarity on sanctioned entities and obscure maritime activities, setting new benchmarks for safety and sustainability in the maritime sector.

In this team, your mission is to:


  • Lead on projects to grow the existing products and support the latest features that we have in development.
  • Partner with teams for integrations and uphold engineering standards.
  • Contribute your insights across the team to help us re-architect existing systems for scale and extensibility.
  • Find efficient ways to tackle challenges using relevant and up-to-date technologies.
  • Thoroughly test code to ensure the quality of new and existing functionality.
  • Experiment with new frameworks and technologies and learn continuously.
  • Own meaningful parts of our service, have an impact and grow with the company.
  • Mentor other developers in the team.
  • Maintain visibility, establishing monitoring and alerting mechanisms to guarantee SLAs and SLOs.

It will be a match if you


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Python, with experience in FastAPI.
  • Proficiency in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems (MSSQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Proven experience with Docker and familiarity with CI/CD concepts.
  • Skilled in various code testing methodologies.
  • Knowledgeable in Clean Code, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

It will be even better if you have


  • Experience with Redis, Elasticache, or similar caching solutions.
  • Experience with additional technologies including Java, Scala, or comparable backend technologies.
  • Familiarity with event streaming technologies like Kafka, MQTT or similar technologies.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD and quality monitoring tools such as SonarQube.
  • Familiarity with code quality tools like Sonarqube.
  • Familiarity with K8s and AWS EKS.
