CIC is seeking an experienced, highly capable, self-motivated, and ambitious person with experience building meaningful client and partner relationships to lead Connect Labs by Wexford, a new shared lab facility in Baltimore, that will be operated by CIC. This role will be responsible for establishing and growing the Connect Labs community to drive occupancy and retention at the Baltimore location.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK
As Site Director, you will balance being the external face of Connect Labs with oversight of day-to-day workings of our center, serving as a resource and leader to local staff and clients, acting as a sales lead and overseeing operations and under the guidance of the VP, Labs and Centers, US. The Site Director will regularly report progress and updates and will collaborate with the VP on the high-level mission and vision decisions. The Site Director will also collaborate closely with our partners at Wexford and UMB.
You will be responsible for the strategy and integration across efforts to fill the center, provide the best client experience, and deepen impact and community engagement in the life sciences.This is an onsite role, M-F 9-5 with occasional evening and weekend events attendance. Some travel to other CIC centers, conferences, and events may occur.Strategy & Leadership:• Providing vision and direction to sales and strategic partnerships, while prioritizing a flawless client and partner experienceAbility to quickly understand the lab ecosystem, identifying competitors, potential partners and membership organizations in the space to build relationshipsIdentify and participate in ecosystem appropriate events, round tables, panels, utilizing the marketing budget appropriately to increase brand awareness and credibility in the field.• Acting as a high-level thought partner with the VP, Labs and Centers and our partners to develop the product and programming strategy as well as partner engagement, aiming to improve overall client experience.• Aligning lab marketing and programming with sales, overseeing execution of activities to hit goals, and helping develop relevant marketing materials based on one’s deep understanding of our lab offerings.• Serve as the main point of contact with Wexford and the University of Maryland. In the context of this relationship, you are responsible for required data reporting and regular progress meetings to ensure active collaboration and clear communication.• Manage a Lab Manager and Event Lead, spending time resourcing and strategizing with each manager to understand the needs and challenges facing their teams. Management:• Management and oversight of site budget, encompassing cost optimization, budget re-forecasting, and related activities.• Managing ~5 direct reports; prioritizing needs and assigning work.• Developing, guiding, and building upon a high performing and diverse team focused on operational excellence.• Collaborating with your team to ensure seamless and collaborative work, strategically looking out for the needs and morale of staff.• Cultivating, fostering, and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring culture.Strategic Partnerships & Programming:• Managing high-level partnerships and sponsor relationships.• Representing the organization at events, through networking or speaking opportunities, and as an active partner member of the life sciences community.• Serving as an ally and partnering with a wide network of local stakeholders to creatively build opportunities for the site, the clients it serves, and the local community.Sales:• In conjunction with Sales and Marketing, responsible for developing go-to-market strategy for initial lease-up and subsequent client retention efforts. • Lead market development, as well as generate new initiatives to better support client needs, and adapt and enact new strategies as needed.• Developing and implementing outbound strategies for sales.• Owning responsibility for the sales system management and revenue/goal tracking.• Lead through doing, including directly managing a portfolio of high profile clients and leading sales tours.• Overseeing client issues that surpass the authority of the team.• Driving the creation and implementation of new programs and initiatives around new sales, client support, and overall business development.

YOU HAVE
• At least 6-8 years of professional experience with at least 2-3 years in a client facing role and at least 3-5 years of experience in managing teams, developing staff, and overseeing a budget.• Managing a specialized team a plus.• Managing a lab team a plus• Experience in the Baltimore life sciences community with either a pre-existing network or a proven track record as a convener across the ecosystem (including partners such as universities, investors, startups, and real estate).• Evidenced growth and increase in responsibility and success in previous roles.• Familiarity with marketing and business development tactics.• Experience in a client-service environment.• An interest in a long-term role — we are a growing company, and we like to hire people who can grow with us over the years.
