Position Summary:
This position is responsible for building and maintaining the management systems and controls to ensure site-wide safe, compliant operations. Direct plant operations through a team of functional managers and supervisors. Ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and equipment. Ultimately responsible for Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, Lab, and Engineering employee at the Palestine site.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an effective organization through recruitment, selection, training, performance management, goal setting, talent development/succession planning and motivation of employees.
- Lead/manage assigned areas to ensure satisfactory operations and performance consistent with established goals and objectives.
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources to enforce and comply with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards set forth under various regulatory agencies and Verdant Specialty Solutions.
- Responsible for delivering Plant Gross Margin and cash objectives.
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate improvements and improved working relationships with line organization and facilitate successful teamwork companywide.
- Plan the use of facilities, equipment, and personnel to meet current and future production requirements.
- Initiate various programs that lead to continuous improvement and quality, decreased pollutants, waste reduction, overall efficiency, and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
- Direct department managers in the preparation and implementation of plant operating plans and strategies consistent with business requirements, goals, and objectives -Identify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.
- Provide expertise to the plant in the development of standards of performance in all areas of responsibility.
- Develops, tracks and reports on department performance relative to established metrics (scorecard); provides analysis and improvement initiatives for such metrics.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by the TCEQ, FDA, OSHA, EEOC, EPA, DHS, etc., along with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Observe, adhere to, direct, and enforce health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures and participate in plant safety processes and activities.
- Enforce good housekeeping and keep the plant free from debris, spills, and waste.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Material Science or other technical discipline.
- MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of directly related work experience and at least three (3) years in a leadership role directly managing others with increasing responsibilities.
- Understanding of chemical manufacturing facility, in particular batch process design and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage multiple priorities and communicate as priorities change.
- Ability to lead, develop and direct employees.
- Experience in consolidating data, analyzing, and reporting results in a succinct style and with impact.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact and motivate all levels of personnel.
- Project management experience with the ability to deliver projects on time with desired outcome/result within budget.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Advanced investigative, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Willing to be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to operational needs.
- Able to respond to emergencies while off duty and arrive at the plant within sixty (60) minutes.
