Job Summary:
The accounting clerk is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day accounting operations of the company (specifically Accounts Receivable). This includes processing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and providing general support to the accounting team.Key Responsibilities:Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and send out invoices to customers.
- Monitor customer accounts for payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Post and reconcile payments to customer accounts.
- Prepare and send customer account statements.
General Ledger:
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Reconcile bank statements and other general ledger accounts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions.
Data Entry and Record-Keeping:
- Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Maintain electronic and physical filing systems for financial records.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in financial records.
Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Generate ad-hoc reports as requested by management.
Assistance and Support:
- Provide support to the accounting team as needed.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding financial transactions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably as an accounting clerk or similar position.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
