Credit Card and Flexible Rent) Data Science team. Ideal candidate is a hands-on thought leader who can identify business problems (preferably in consumer lending), translate insights into actionable recommendations, develop AI/ML stack solutions, drive test/learn plans, present recommendations, and independently deploy these solutions into production – with the capability to lead, coach, mentor or upskill team members to do the same. The candidate should have a high sense of urgency, a creative mind, great communication skills, and a strong background in programming and AI/ML.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set vision, educate and evangelize use cases of advanced analytics and AI/ML applications throughout the business. Create annual plans and goals across multiple services or programs to support company goals, impact and improve longer-term strategy.
- Lead the revolving products data science function; accountable for recruitment, development, and scoping new roles as well as managing headcount requests and budget.
- Recognized as a senior leader across the enterprise, influencing other leaders and decision-making at the senior leadership level. Upheld several positive interpersonal working relationships among functional area experts across the company.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities. Liaise with technology team to set vision, capabilities, infrastructure and roadmap of data science capabilities. Liaise with data team to identify opportunities in new and/or alternative data sources.
- Partner with various business units to develop AI/ML solutions aimed at optimizing and automating business tasks relating to underwriting, pricing, customer service, fraud, verification, loss forecasting, and/or operational strategies.
- Take ownership of a rich library of AI/ML tools and enjoy authority to continue to research efficient and effective strategies.
- Use Best Egg’s deep data sets (application, bureau, web, and alternative data) to derive actionable insights.
- Build and/or manage end-to-end AI/ML pipelines including data ingestion, extraction, feature engineering, model training and inference, performance evaluation and implementation. R&D and stay current with AI/ML solutions.
- Contribute to a culture focused on continuous learning and celebrate frequent wins, while providing valuable insights to inform decisions across the entire Best Egg organization.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science/Engineering, Data Science or other quantitative major. Master or PhD is preferred. Other quantitative fields with experience in building Cloud Services/Architect solutions, and data/CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML solutions will be considered. Additional degree in business is a plus.
- You should have a solid foundational understanding of the technical aspects of Data Science – knowledgeable in statistics, machine-learning techniques, experimental designs, and know how to obtain and use big data (structured and un-structured). Experience in building and deploying AI/ML stacks via CI/CD and pipeline orchestration tools in cloud production environments required.
- You should have deep understanding of the business dynamics; and proactively lead/conduct exploratory data analyses and experimental designs.
- You should have strong communication and influential skills necessary to ensure high synergy and alignment with other business functions and business leaders.
- You should be a team-builder, result-oriented and self-driven superstar with minimal supervision, as well as open-minded and strategic thinker.
- 10 years of experience in Data Science.
- Experience in lending businesses, product organizations, business P&L management and finance planning and analysis helpful.
- Formative experience at an institution that utilizes advanced analytics and AI/ML solutions to drive decisions and manage revenue and risk tradeoffs.
- Experience in designing and implementing a multi-year learning agenda.
Skill Set
- You should be proficient in writing your own SQL
- Expert level experience in building Python applications via Cloud Services, SDK, CDK, IDE, etc.
$190,000 - $250,000 a yearThis position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance. Yearly incentive bonus target 20% of base salary.
