As Regional Technical Manager you are responsible for defining the Technical strategy together with the Region Manager and you will ensure that our customers are getting value using our technology.
You will also make sure all the technical staff in the region will have all required knowledge to provide training to our customers. You will work with the Business Managers, Region Manager and the technical team of the Latin American Region, but you will also be in contact with our global Development and Product Management team. In this role you will report to the Latin America Region Manager of GeoSoftware.Duties and ResponsibilitiesServices
- Work with the Business Managers and Region Manager to ensure that our customers are getting value using GeoSoftware’s technology to address their needs.
- Work with Business Managers and Region manager to develop realistic scope and deliverables of services.
- Responsible to ensure the appropriate execution is applied to all services.
- Provide input on ways to improve workflows and the software.
- Assist with region support efforts.
Manage new technology
- Manage the Region Product Champion (RPC) program.
- Assign Region Product Champions for each GeoSoftware application to ensure the timely introduction of new technology into the Region;
- Be engaged in projects where technology is applied first time.
- Provide active feedback on required software development and problems.
- Keep track of key technologies that may already exist as well as upcoming technologies.
- While not preferred, the RTM may be required to serve as RPC for a certain software, in the event there is not another appropriate choice available.
- Seek to identify innovations in the software business model based on existing or envisioned new technologies.
Business
- Active participation in developing technological strategy with the Region Manager.
- Support sales activities at the highest technical level to help identify new opportunities for the region.
- Manage the development of proper sales presentations and software demonstrations to support software sales.
- Seek to identify new opportunities from discussing needs and working on solutions with clients.
- Ensure proper training courses are being run in the region (Internal & External).
Staff Development
- Owns the Skills Assessment for all Technical Advisors (TA) in the region.
- Reviews staff skill levels with the Region Manager.
- Works with the Region Manager to identify areas of strength and weakness to accomplish the technical advisory required in the region.
- Ensures development objectives are input to the appraisal process for all technical staff.
- Identifies the training required to advance the technical staff to be able meet the needs of the region.
- Work with Region Manager to ensure that a short term training program and long-term development plan correlate with and are prioritized based on anticipated business opportunities
- Provide technical training and schedule other required training for all technical staff
- Provide technical competence recommendations for the hiring of the technical staff
- Focus on building teams of excellence across the region and to promote innovative technologies, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

Qualifications & RequirementsRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline essential – preferably in an earth science subject such as geophysics.
- 15+ years technical experience in Oil & Gas industry essential.
- Strong Geophysical technical background essential
- Experience performing QI projects and services at a very senior level.
- Expertise in reservoir characterization tools and practices essential - working as a geoscientist in reservoir characterization projects using seismic inversion.
- Experience with Hampson-Russell or Jason Workbench software in reservoir characterization projects in different reservoirs
- Technically deep with business savvy to interface with all levels and disciplines across the Company essential.
- Able to communicate in Spanish and English language fluently essential.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently
- Remote work. Physically located in Latin-American region.
Desired:
- Experience working for oil and gas operating companies desired.
- Experience in Petrophysics and Rock Physics for reservoir characterization projects advantageous.
- Experience with Anisotropic Inversion projects advantageous desired.
- Experience in Multi-component Inversion projects advantageous desired
- Experience in Jason Geostatistical Inversion projects advantageous desired
- Knowledge in PowerLog products advantageous.
- Portuguese is desired
