Who we’re looking for; Graylog is currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant who will play a critical role in supporting our finance department. As the Staff Accountant here at Graylog you will have the opportunity to see and work with the full cycle of accounting and be exposed to all areas and not just be stuck in accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, etc.You will work closely with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and other team members to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient financial operations.The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions such as general ledger close, processing accounts payable and receivable, processing of expense reimbursements, reconciling bank accounts, and performing account reconciliations for assigned accounts to name but a few.This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail orientated individual with a background in accounting who has the ability of working independently to join a growing technology business and surround themself with a great team. This position will be based in Houston, Texas reporting to our Manager, Accounting also based in Houston. Ability and willingness to visit the office as and when required.
Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, process accounts payable invoices, expense reimbursements, process accounts receivable transactions all in a timely manner throughout the month.
- Monitor and assist in collections of overdue receivables.
- Perform timely reconciliations of bank accounts, including daily cash postings and month end reconciliations.
- Perform month-end processes, including reconciliations and journal entries for activities including, but not limited to accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, cash and payroll related accounts.
- Support the accounting function in maintaining a 5-business day close.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in the processing of payroll on a bi-monthly basis – activities include input of new hire and term payroll information and other activities as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
- Manage multiple email inboxes related to general accounting inquiries from the business, invoice inquiries from customers and payroll inquiries from employees.
- Support Accounting Manager in state payroll tax compliance.
- Assist in preparation and documentation for the annual audit.
- Identify, recommend and initiate process improvements and enhancements where applicable.
Little bit about you;
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Asana, Subscript, Gusto, Expensify) and MS Excel.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
- Primarily remote, however flexibility to be in office a couple times per month or when needed
