Lumina Corps is seeking a Staff Accountant to maintain general accounting functions and systems to ensure timely and accurate recording of all transactions. In this role, you will be responsible for travel and expense reimbursements, billing, credit cards and bank reconciliation, analysis reporting, and serving as a subject matter expert in the finance and accounting function. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to document and establish scalable processes, as well as provide reporting support to internal stakeholders.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure deliverables are compliant with company, GAAP, CAS, and FAR procedures.
- Utilize and optimize Deltek Costpoint Accounting to manage, plan, optimize, and record Lumina Corps financial activities.
- Maintain timely records of monthly transactions, reconciliations, reports, journal entries, accruals, recurring entries, billings, cash receipts, vouchers, travel and expense reimbursements, ACH and wire transfers, project setup, role assignments, and administrative functions for various systems.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, and general ledger.
- Establish a regular cadence to record and review AP/AR/Billing/Internal Controls.
- Assist accounting director with month-end closing processes, checklist, and tasks.
- Assist accounting director with preparing project status and labor reports, general ledger, and financial statements.
- Support and assist with all audit and compliance initiatives.
- Maintain Lumina Corps balance sheet.
- Work closely with various teams, including strategy, leadership, and project management to provide guidance and support for various inquiries, reporting, and projects.
- Identify potential improvements to existing practices and procedures, as well as collaborate cross-functionally to manage change.
- Conduct special projects as assigned.
Ideal
candidates will have:
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of government contracting accounting experience with general ledger, job costing, banking transactions, handling high volume of travel and expense reimbursements, and GAAP compliance.
- Expertise: Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint Accounting, and advanced Excel skills are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Mindset: Strong problem-solving, analysis aptitude, and consultative approach.
- Professional qualities: Strong organizational skills, ability to constructively pivot and prioritize based on business needs in a fast-paced environment and operate with high levels of discretion are required. Strong oral and written communication skills required including an ability to communicate financial analysis to team members with less financial experience.
This is a full-time position with benefits, hybrid and fully remote schedules are permitted. Lumina Corps headquarters is in Silver Spring, Maryland; remote candidates will be considered.
