The Role


At SellerX we are growing our Transportation Department and now we are looking for a Global Trade Compliance Lead (x/f/m) to join our team. In this role you will ensure trade compliance with export and import regulations of the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Japan. Sounds exciting? Apply today!

Your Responsibilities in Detail


  • Manage and develop a team of trade compliance specialists and build a strong succession plan foundation for the sub-department.
  • Lead the development and implementation of processes and controls across all relevant portfolio brands to ensure compliance with relevant customs and trade regulations and meet internal business objectives – in particular around tariff classification, customs descriptions, commercial invoice compliance, export and import declarations.
  • Manage relationships with company designated freight forwarders and customs brokers worldwide, and increase operational efficiency with them to minimize clearance delays and declaration errors.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive customs master database with HS codes, customs descriptions, duty and ad valorem rates for landed costs, and import screenings of all portfolio products on SellerX’s ERP system.
  • Oversee audits with efficient communication with relevant business units and leadership.
  • Strategic planning to ensure that cost mitigation opportunities are pursued and implemented (e.g. changing sourcing country, free trade eligibility, duty drawback) and cost escalation risks are adequately flagged in a timely manner.
  • Do regular outreach and internal trainings to business stakeholders to ensure trade compliance requirements are understood and embedded in transactional routines.
  • Ensure ERP system is compliant to procedures with regards to trade compliance and are working efficiently.

Your Background


To join our team, you bring along 

  • 3+ years of USA import customs handling (classifying, declaring via customs broker or directly with customs agent) of consumer products (accessories, cosmetics, electronic, toys, apparel, medical devices, etc.).
  • Expertise in HS code classification. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exper ERP Systems (NetSuite is a plus!).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, whether sequentially or simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Strong orientation towards structured processes and procedures.
