Director, Mechanical Engineering - EL SEGUNDO, CA


In this role, you will be managing a team of engineers designing and testing our fly-by-wire product for flight readiness and helping to ensure robust product integration. You will work cross-functionally with teams that include Electrical, Software, GNC, etc. to assist in the development of certifiable flight autonomous technologies and cost-efficient processes for the General Aviation industry. 

Responsibilities:


  • Ability to drive concepts into prototype and then mature the design to production
  • You will lead a group of experts in mechanical engineers to prepare and present PDR and CDR to progress designs quickly through the engineering design process
  • You are the team leader that can build and manage teams that will deliver innovative products
  • Manage a wide variety of stakeholders while leading process definition for your team
  • Create career development plans, manage performance, create performance reviews
  • Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching and mentoring

Minimum Qualifications:   


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering, or equivalent
  • 8+ years experience in product design or mechanical system development
  • 5+ years experience managing engineering teams through product development cycles
  • Has electro-mechanical actuation/mechatronics experience 
  • Has worked with avionics and control electronic enclosures as well as pilot inceptor. 
  • Experience working independently and managing priorities
  • Experience developing electro-mechanical systems

Preferred Qualifications:


  • MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent. 
  • 10+ years experience managing design teams for air-worthy products
  • 15+ years experience in aerospace design
