Director, Mechanical Engineering - EL SEGUNDO, CA
In this role, you will be managing a team of engineers designing and testing our fly-by-wire product for flight readiness and helping to ensure robust product integration. You will work cross-functionally with teams that include Electrical, Software, GNC, etc. to assist in the development of certifiable flight autonomous technologies and cost-efficient processes for the General Aviation industry.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to drive concepts into prototype and then mature the design to production
- You will lead a group of experts in mechanical engineers to prepare and present PDR and CDR to progress designs quickly through the engineering design process
- You are the team leader that can build and manage teams that will deliver innovative products
- Manage a wide variety of stakeholders while leading process definition for your team
- Create career development plans, manage performance, create performance reviews
- Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching and mentoring
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering, or equivalent
- 8+ years experience in product design or mechanical system development
- 5+ years experience managing engineering teams through product development cycles
- Has electro-mechanical actuation/mechatronics experience
- Has worked with avionics and control electronic enclosures as well as pilot inceptor.
- Experience working independently and managing priorities
- Experience developing electro-mechanical systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10+ years experience managing design teams for air-worthy products
- 15+ years experience in aerospace design
