A Director of Product defines the vision and roadmap for the vertical product(s), including the core feature functionality, user experience, application workflow, analytical model, and integrations. A Director of Product also leads a cross-functional team that is accountable for ensuring that the product meets the needs of our customers, evolves as the market needs evolve, and is designed in a way that is efficient to implement and easy to support/troubleshoot. A Director of Product is accountable for the performance of Team Members. They ultimately own the decisions for promotions, salary adjustments, and transition plans.
A Day in the Life
- Working as or with a product owner, owns tradeoff decisions between product quality (fixing defects), feature enhancements that drive sales, improvements to increase user adoption, and technical debt to improve supportability or scalability
- Working as or with a product owner, owns vision and roadmap for product UI, analytics, workflows and integrations
- Manages overall development timelines making trade-off decisions and proactively communicating expectations back to the vertical team for dissemination to customers and prospects
- Serves as the vertical product and analytics subject matter expert (SME) with customers and prospects ensuring customer confidence and trust
- Leads the design of key product UI, analytics, workflows and integrations
- Oversees configurations of product analytics to meet customer needs and expectations
- Serves as a leader, providing mentorship and career guidance to direct reports
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree, with Master's preferred
- 7 years of experience applying analytics to business problems in areas such as Pricing, Revenue Management, Supply Chain Logistics, Inventory Management, or Customer Relationship Management
- 4 years of relevant experience working for a Management Consulting Firm or in a software product management capacity
- 2 years of management experience in a leadership role
- Ability to relate to senior customer executives in defining relevant strategies and tactics
- Exceptional leadership skills and ability to manage multiple diverse projects and teams
- Creative analytical capabilities and problem‐solving skills
