We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Model Based Development to join our software Chief Engineer’s Office team. The goal of an Staff Software Engineer - Model Based Development at Wisk is to define Model Based Development strategy, define and implement framework, define and guide software teams in implementing model architecture complaint with modeling standards and industry standards, develop model based development plans and standard, define model based verification strategy across software teams, interact and work with and provide guidance to Integrated Product Team (IPT), to develop model based development software life cycle artifacts in compliance with DO-331, review model based development tool qualification plans and tool qualification data, leading and attending software reviews with various certification authorities.

- With that vision in mind, we are looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Model Based Development who can take a systematic and disciplined approach in defining model based development approach, identifying tools and environments, understand software model based development scope, proactively work with software teams and provide guidance in performing software model based development for aircraft systems.
- To support software certification needs ensuring correctness and completeness of software model based development data required for software reviews with certification authorities including tool qualification
- In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking and self-motivated with the ability to inspire and influence a team of like-minded engineers.
What you will do:
- As part of the Chief Engineer’s Office organization, you will act as a Staff Software Engineer - Model Based Development focusing on model based development and certification aspects for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
- You will collaborate with SW teams, define model based development strategy, model architecture, defining model libraries, model simulation, integration of model with system simulation, perform model coverage, static and dynamic analysis
- You will review model based development life cycle data, provide guidance and ensure compliance with software plans and standards, DO-331 and DO-178C
- You will define the requirements and guide in implementation and updates of model based development framework used for software development and verification
- You will collaborate with SW teams in defining development and verification tools for model based development, tool qualification planning in compliance with DO-331 objectives, provide guidance and ensure compliance
- You will author and collaborate on developing software certification plans (PSAC, SVP, etc), standards (Software Requirements, Modeling, and Code) and help build company process assets
- You will interact with Program teams at Wisk to keep the overall company vision and schedule aligned
- You will mentor SW team members on model based development aspects.
- You are familiar with DO-178C, DO-330, DO-331 certification
- You are familiar with FAA certification experience
What you have done:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics discipline
- 10+ years of hands on experience in embedded software development - Model based development for safety critical aircraft systems
- You have experience with model simulation, model in loop testing, model coverage and analysis tools, platform specific auto code generation, performing traceability and handling derived models
- You have experience in developing and standardizing modeling framework, defining, evaluation, implementation and review of model libraries, matlab scripts
- You have experience in DO-178 B/C, DO-330, DO-331, working with multiple certification authorities (FAA, EASA, TC, etc) and clear understanding on requirements for SOI audits
- You have experience in developing, updating and reviewing software plans and standards
- You have great interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), passionate, ability to learn and guide the team
- You have proven success to work with geographically dispersed team
Desired:
- Setting up and configuring Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment in the Matlab/Simulink Environment
- Familiar with software functions such as Flight Management Systems (FMS), Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) \ Control Laws (CLAWS), or Battery Management Systems(BMS).
- Familiar with ARINC653-based Embedded Software Architecture.
- Familiar with Embedded Software Build Processes using various target-specific toolchains

Job Type: Full-timePay Range the Company expects to pay:$148,288 - $170,446per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.We are located in Mountain View just a couple of hundred feet from Shoreline Lake and its surrounding walking/jogging trails.
