We are looking for a Senior Materials & Process Engineer to join our team to help us develop the materials and processes for composite structures, metallic components, and assemblies for Wisk’s Gen6 aircraft program. You will be part of the M&P and Liaison Engineering team that is responsible for material selection efforts, material qualification test programs, material & process specifications, engineering design reviews, manufacturing / quality support and non-conformance dispositions, and mechanical & thermal testing of materials.

- The successful candidate has well-rounded materials & process experience from their work on aerospace programs including experience with composite part fabrication, adhesive bonding, writing materials and process specifications, writing material test plans / reports, fabricating test coupons, performing mechanical / thermal testing, and supporting manufacturing processes and related issues. In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking and self-motivated with the ability to inspire and lead by influence a team of like-minded engineers.
What you will do:
- Help author and revise material and process specifications to support Gen 6 aircraft production
- Help author test plans and test reports for various material qualification test programs
- Provide manufacturing support, take part in root cause analysis, help disposition non-conforming hardware
- Perform mechanical strength testing on test coupons using Instron mechanical test machines
- Perform thermal analysis testing to determine glass transition temperature and degree of cure for various materials
- Perform cross-sectional image analysis to determine void content of composite parts
- Perform layup and curing of composite prepreg test coupons
- Perform bonding for bonded joint test coupons
What you have done:
- Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM Degree) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional or Military experience or a MS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM Degree) and 3 years of relevant Professional / Military experience
- Have experience with materials for airframe structures, including composite materials, adhesives, metals.
- Familiar with materials properties and behaviors, testing, processes for aircraft structural parts
- Have experience developing test plans, specifications, and qualifications of materials and processes.
- Familiar with CAD software such as Siemens NX(preferred), Solidworks, etc.
- Familiar with specifications, test plans, CMH-17
- Experience supporting manufacture, including disposition of hardware non-conformances.
Desired:
- Familiar with with aircraft certification and aerospace development best practices and standards
- Familiar with FAA regulatory requirements, CMH-17
- Experience and knowledge of metallic materials and corrosion prevention principles
