Credigy, a fast-paced growing financial services company, is searching for a talented accounting professional to assist the Accounting Policy team in ensuring companywide compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal accounting policies. The ideal candidate for this role must have experience in financial reporting and be familiar with IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting principles. This role will be essential in establishing and maintaining compliance with accounting policies throughout the organization and will be in direct contact with the internal executive team and our parent company, National Bank of Canada. In addition, this position participates in a variety of projects across the company and provides ample room for growth.
The job responsibilities include:
- Assist in technical accounting research under IFRS including:
- Implementation of new accounting pronouncements including the impact on the consolidated financial statements and recommendation of disclosures.
- Drafting accounting policies, and documenting accounting conclusions for specific transactions.
- Drafting documentation of valuation methodologies (expected credit losses and fair value) and its impacts on financial statements.
- Facilitate all aspects of annual financial audit including:
- Researching and determining disclosure requirements for private companies under IFRS;
- Preparing a stand-alone set of financials and disclosures as required under IFRS;
- Being a liaison between external auditors and Credigy’s finance team:
- Coordinating audit schedule and deliverables.
- Address auditors’ questions.
- Ensure timely completion of the audit process.
- Assist Financial Reporting with the preparation of:
- Fair value disclosures and certain aspects of fair value measurements.
- Monthly and quarterly disclosures for inclusion in Parent’s consolidated financials
- Assists with due diligence for transactions, including performing analysis of third-party financial statements to determine financial health.
- Assist with special projects within the Finance department.
Skills and Experience:
- Passion for technical accounting and financial reporting;
- 2+ year(s) experience in public accounting firm or financial reporting;
- CPA license designation is preferred;
- Experience in preparing or auditing financial statements;
- Excellent organizational and written communication skills;
- Detail oriented;
- Ability to work well independently and with others;
- Proficiency in MS Office products with an emphasis on spreadsheets, word processing, and PowerPoint.
