The Senior Financial Analyst will help shape the structure, processes, and culture around many aspects of the Finance department.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and operating effectively to minimize substantive errors and improve efficiency
- Provide audit support for control and substantive testing
- Perform month end and quarter end reconciliation activities as assigned
- Generate and maintain detailed documentation of policies and processes and assist with process improvement/automation initiatives as they arise
- Research and identify international reporting requirements
- Registering or updating sales tax filing status in each state
- Coordinate the identification, reporting and follow-up efforts associated with tax related system problems and errors, which will include responding to sales tax notices
- Provide analytical support and assistance with respect to all areas of sales/use tax compliance
- Aid in the maintenance of our tax system - Avalara (exemption certificates, filing requirements, etc.)
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of new international business processes, including operational setup and chart of account mapping
- Entering tax codes for new and existing products within Avalara
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP), and will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the month-end close process
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in Public Accounting
- Project management skills, analytical thinker, and effective leader
- Leadership in continuous improvement projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Highly organized, customer-focused, strong attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
