The Tax Lead oversees the Global Tax organization, directing all aspects of the domestic and international tax provisions, compliance and global indirect taxes. They will drive strategic business partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure that the Company’s tax planning processes and operational rigors are world class. The Tax Lead will also be involved with income tax account matters, and ad-hoc international planning initiatives as necessary.
The Tax Lead must have strong analytical, interpersonal communication and leadership skills and effectively collaborate in a matrixed environment to help execute on business initiatives and tax compliance and planning requirements. The Tax Lead, reporting to the Corporate Controller, will be a key member of the Finance leadership team and Direct Global Tax leadership and initiatives for Impossible Foods.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee the Global Tax organization, directing all aspects of domestic and international tax provisions, compliance, and global indirect taxes.
- Manage and lead the U.S. federal, state/local, and international tax compliance process including income, franchise property, sales and use, and miscellaneous tax reporting in coordination with a mix of internal and external resources to ensure deadlines are timely and efficiently met.
- Manage quarterly and annual tax provision preparation and review process in accordance with ASC 740 and tax disclosure requirements with the support of external resources.
- Partner with accounting, finance, and other cross functional teams to ensure accurate information is procured for preparation of compliance obligations.
- Lead and effectively manage all external tax audits conducted by the IRS and various states and local governments. This includes preparation and/or review of Company’s responses to information data requests and notices of proposed adjustments.
- Develop and maintain transfer pricing strategies and policies to ensure compliance with regulations and optimize the company's global tax position.
- Act as a key point of contact for external tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
- Actively monitor tax legislative changes and implement mitigation plans to minimize tax exposure to the Company.
- Design, develop and implement global tax strategies and policies aligned with business goals to optimize the company's overall tax position.
- Lead the completion of and/or assistance with various special projects related to domestic and international expansion.
- Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Direct corporate tax research and modeling for tax planning strategies.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Basic Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree with emphasis in Finance, Business, or Accounting.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in roles focused on U.S. federal, state and local tax compliance, international tax, transfer pricing, research and planning, and ASC 740.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S., federal, state, and international tax laws, regulations, and research tools.
- Comfortable collaborating on cross-functional teams and communicating with executive and senior management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with verbal and written communication skills
- Self motivated, focused and energetic attitude with a strong work ethic to support optimal business and bottom line focus towards tax efficient results and outcomes.
- Hands-on experience researching and documenting complex tax issues, implementing tax savings strategies, effectively dealing with U.S. federal, state, and foreign tax authority audits, leading compliance preparation and timely filing, and interfacing with business partners and leaders.
- Experience and comfortable with analysis and reporting utilizing accounting and tax software, databases and Excel spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Tax and/or an LLM in Tax.
- Work experience at U.S.-based multinationals and/or Big 4 with increasing levels of responsibility in tax is preferred.
$144,000 - $230,400 a yearThis U.S. based, full-time position offers the above base salary range + equity + benefits + bonus for sales incentive plan roles. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
