Head of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting

Plaid is looking for a Head of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting to lead all aspects of technical accounting function and provide guidance to senior finance leadership on complex accounting matters and transactions. You will work with business owners across the company to ensure we are properly accounting for new, significant transactions and key business initiatives. This strategic, yet hands-on role requires deep subject matter expertise and the ability to reason through complex issues. The ideal candidate for this role will have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, a keen attention to detail, proven business judgment and creative intuition for problem-solving. This role will report to the Head of Accounting.

Responsibilities


  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP 
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical accounting issues quickly and accurately, and document accounting positions in memorandums under a wide variety of US GAAP topics
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Strategic Finance, FP&A, Legal, HR, Tax, Engineering, and Product to provide accounting guidance on contracts, business initiatives, and new transactions
  • Monitor and maintain the company’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as emerging accounting issues. Stay informed with the technology industry, FASB pronouncements, and regulatory areas of focus such as from the SEC and lead implementation of new accounting standards
  • Own all investor and external information requests. Work closely with legal, finance and executive teams to ensure alignment on investor communications and reporting
  • Oversee and improve processes for technical accounting areas, including capitalized software, sales commissions, fair value assessments of investments, and stock-based compensation
  • Serve as the key liaison to external auditors in executing consolidated annual financial audits and quarterly reviews

Qualifications


  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, solid understanding of SEC reporting requirements and passion for accounting research and application 
  • Proven business acumen and creative intuition for problem solving
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, you know how to work practically with a range of senior stakeholders across the business and achieve the right balance to achieve compliant desired outcomes
  • Experience with SaaS or FinTech industries strongly preferred. IPO experience a plus 
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or high growth public companies
  • CPA license or equivalent

$137,160 - $222,480 a yearTarget base salary for this role is between $137,160 and $222,480 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location. Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefit plans.
