Guild is looking for a Deputy General Counsel who will report directly to the General Counsel and join the Legal Leadership team. This leader will work as a trusted strategic partner to leaders of Guild's various business and operational stakeholders and help the company navigate the many legal and strategic opportunities and challenges as our business continues to grow.The Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for managing a team of specialists in Commercial Contracting, Vendor Contracting, Data Privacy, and Corporate Compliance, helping to build a cohesive legal strategy across the department and in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders across the business.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide executive leadership and mentorship for legal professionals responsible for contracting (Employer Partner, Learning Partner, and Vendor), regulatory compliance, and privacy.
- Participate in high importance partner negotiations, both directly and via advice and guidance provided to directly responsible attorneys.
- Foster and develop a culture of partnership and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s organizational structure, business, contracting and revenue models, business operations and policies & procedures in order to identify and assess areas of risk, defend claims and litigation, and counsel & advise business management on matters of risk mitigation and dispute resolution.
- Cultivate a culture of autonomy, collaboration, communication and positivity among the legal team and its core stakeholders
- Lead negotiations in connection with various strategic transactions
- Counsel business partners on legal issues around all aspects of new product development
- Establish systems and scalable processes including internal policies and procedures
- Manage and optimize engagement with outside counsel
- Develop and deliver training programs to facilitate compliance, educate business team members on common legal practices and reduce the risk of future claims and/or litigation.
- Develop and mentor attorneys and legal professionals on the legal team.
