Substack is building a
new economic engine for culture, with over 3 million paid subscriptions to writers, podcasters, and video-makers on the platform. We’re driving a fundamental shift in how creators reach their audiences. As a Temporary Growth Marketing Manager, you will assist our Partnerships team in running paid acquisition experiments alongside our largest publications. In this temporary role, you’ll be responsible for identifying paid media opportunities, sourcing or building ad creative, and reporting out growth metrics back to the leadership team.
Along with a love of storytelling and strong attention to detail, you will be obsessed with the internet and excited by the opportunity to scale the next generation of media businesses. This position will report to the Head of Operations, Partnerships. This is a part-time non-benefits eligible role, with an expected commitment of 20 hours a week over the course of two to four months. Our compensation range for this role is $50-85/hr. Multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, determine final offer amounts and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Core responsibilities:
- Lead ad spend on platforms including but not limited to: Meta, X, and Tiktok
- Work with the Partnerships team to help scale the largest publications on Substack
- Work with writers, creators, and podcasters to develop growth plans on external platforms
- Partner closely with the internal marketing, product, and data teams to communicate and optimize the success of our ad experiments
- Work cross functionally to help uplevel our internal resources on using paid media to grow a Substack
- Work directly with writers and creators
About You (Minimum Requirements):
- Excellent written, verbal, and diplomatic skills, with a sharp attention to detail.
- Minimum 3+ years in a growth marketing role, with specific experience with app installs
- Experience managing advertising budgets on social media platforms in excess of $100,000 per month
- Interest in building the playbook (principles, strategy) and then scaling it (building solutions, processes, and teams)
