As the release manager, you will have end-to-end ownership of the release process:  Ensuring successful planning, coordination, and execution of software releases.  In this crucial role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline the release process, minimize risks, and deliver high-quality software solutions to our customers.This is a great opportunity to be a key player in a globally diverse and hyper-growth environment. The release manager role will be a part of the Technical Programs team with access to mentorship and coaching from senior team members.

Responsibilities


  • Release Planning: Drive release planning milestones to ensure robust planning, including prioritization, sizing, resource allocation and enablement. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure security, engineering, product and Go-To-Market teams are aligned on outcomes and priorities.
  • Release Coordination: Facilitate communication and coordination between engineering, QA, product, and other relevant teams throughout the release lifecycle. Manage dependencies and resolve conflicts to ensure smooth and timely delivery.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks and issues that may impact release timelines or quality. Work with teams to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address these risks.
  • Release Execution: Oversee and coach teams on the execution of release activities to ensure we are following our secure software development life cycle, including deployments, testing, and validation. Monitor release progress and address any issues or roadblocks that may arise during the process.
  • Team accountability: Help hold teams accountable for maintaining high quality standards and compliance requirements. Coordinate with QA and Security teams to ensure thorough testing and validation prior to release.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct cross-functional release retrospectives and drive process improvements and optimization initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the release management process. Collect feedback from stakeholders and implement lessons learned to inform future releases.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure we maintain accurate documentation of release plans, processes, and procedures. Generate reports and metrics to track release performance and provide insights for improvement.

Qualifications


  • Demonstrated technical acumen via a degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field,  or sufficient experience working in technical roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse, globally-distributed  teams (primarily in English).
  • Proven experience in agile release management (Scrum and Kanban) or related roles within software development such as QA, DevOps,  technical program or project management. 
  • Strong understanding of agile software development methodologies & demonstrated knowledge of terminology and common concepts around software development lifecycle
  • Solid organizational and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency using Jira and Jira automation for issue tracking and  release management.
  • Nice to haves:
  • Experience working in or with DevOps on release automation
  • Certification in Agile / Scrum / Lean / release management (e.g., ITIL)
  • Experience working with both cloud and on-prem software models
  • Experience working with AI/ML products
