As an experienced Director of Growth Marketing, you’ll serve as the owner of our paid acquisition, website and member activation channels. In this role, You will be asked to build a comprehensive multi-channel growth marketing strategy to hit Modern Animal’s ambitious revenue goals to achieve national scale. You will be challenged to make decisions on tech, budget & personnel needed to effectively scale our digital, CRM and paid efforts, as well as oversee the day-to-day execution that drives our KPIs (reach, convert & activate members). This is a highly visible, cross-functional role. The ideal candidate is a proven growth oriented leader with a strong paid media background and analytical/organized mindset. You will use data to drive insights that will optimize marketing efforts across the acquisition funnel. You are a detail-oriented individual, can focus on accuracy and a commitment to maintaining the quality of work in all aspects of performance marketing activities. You possess a growth mindset and are comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. You have led & mentored your team to launch high-impact campaigns that drove measurable results, and have proven experience working cross functionally with senior leaders, product & eng teams to advocate for & address gaps in the overall conversion funnel.
You deeply understand how to leverage growth channels to reach new audiences, build an enduring brand, and can adopt a customer-obsessed approach to marketing messages. You have an understanding of how CRM programs partner with paid marketing to create a customer acquisition flywheel and can influence our approach here using data & insights. Most importantly, you’re eager to roll up your sleeves and lead your team to bring our mission to life as we grow. This role reports directly to the VP Marketing and will work from our headquarters in Culver City, CA, with flexibility for remote work during set days of the week.
In this role, you will:
- Set the brand up for national scale by developing and oversee all aspects of our growth marketing tactics including paid acquisition, optimization of the website, Customer lifecycle and SEO strategies to drive customers for new and existing clinics, in new & existing markets, against growth targets
- Establish KPIs and forecasting that maps to company business growth objectives, Monitor and regularly report on paid campaign performance on an established cadence building a robust & clear attribution and marketing measurement system
- Mentor, inspire & manage the Growth team to achieve business results, and foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and excellence within the team.
- Drive customer lifecycle marketing programs to increase activation of clients, adoption of medical standards, and build customer lifetime value.
- Drive the creative development of our performance campaigns, clearly briefing in Content/Creative team and partnering closely on the final delivery
- Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Finance to address gaps in our existing digital strategies and identify new areas & opportunities for growth
- Develop a deep understanding of our marketing funnel and attribution and use data-driven insights to prioritize, lead, and implement performance marketing strategies to drive member conversion and optimize the funnel.
Why you’d be a great fit:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant B2C growth or performance marketing experience, preferably growing a significant customer base in a startup environment
- A minimum of 3+ years of people management experience, showcasing a history of building, growing, and effectively managing growth marketing teams
- Deep experience with marketing measurement, attribution and conversion tracking—proven experience with web attribution is a must
- A creative mindset with an ability to develop best-in-class campaigns, messaging and creative that represent the brand
- Biased to action in iterative processes, willing to tackle problems hands-on and get things done, comfortable working with imperfect data
- Exceptional leadership, communication and relationship building skills with proven ability to collaborate across functions to achieve and scale results
- Strong analytical skills with ability to make decisions without perfect information, knowledge of Heap & SQL is a strong plus but not required
- Based in Los Angeles, or willing to relocate

The pay range for this position is $165,000 - $225,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act.
