About the Role:


When Finix services fail, human beings are not getting their money they need to survive. There is no room for failure or inaccuracy. You would be joining the team delivering the latest exciting Finix initiative: Underwriting. Underwriting is the process of determining which merchants are permitted to use the Finix platform.The Underwriting Team's charter is to deliver an underwriting system that is an unbiased, automated merchant underwriting process, minimizes the opportunity for fraudulent merchants, and is easy for customers, the Finix support team, and the Finix customer success team to use.

You Will:


  • Create quality code and associated tests that eliminate stress in other teams and our customers
  • Ensure that the merchant underwriting process is unbiased
  • Understand and demonstrate the importance of handling sensitive financial data about fellow humans
  • An eagerness to actively improve the product and culture
  • Compassionately assist other team members to improve and be open about asking for assistance

You Are:


  • Comfortable continuously delivering code, infrastructure, and tests throughout the product development lifecycle. 
  • Able to lead proposals, design, and architect big systems through research into use cases 
  • Obsessed with finding edge cases, understanding requirements, and design implications 
  • Proactive in monitoring running systems and troubleshooting production issues
  • Committed to communicating and working cross-functionally with other teams to ensure the delivery of quality code and features

You Have:


  • Have 4+ years of experience and several life-cycles of designing and building systems using Java
  • An appreciation for code, maintainability, testability, and clarity
  • A depth of experience along with a strong sense of what is readable, maintainable code
  • Good communication skills with non-technical fellow Finixians and customers
