ROLE OVERVIEW
The Business Technology team is looking for a Systems Engineer who will be instrumental in managing and optimizing our IT infrastructure. The role has a strong emphasis on Windows/Mac endpoint management, corporate networking, and IAM solutions. The role demands a proactive, detail oriented approach to maintaining and enhancing the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT systems critical to empowering our customers.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Administer and optimize Windows-based systems, ensuring stability, security, and efficiency across the fleet.
- Manage network infrastructure, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of WAP’s, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN to support a high-availability, high-performance multi-site corporate network.
- Implement and maintain IAM solutions, particularly using Okta, to streamline access requests and enhance our security posture across the organization.
- Develop and enforce policies for network and endpoint security, in alignment with our security partners, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of endpoint and networking issues, providing technical support and incident resolution.
- Lead and execute projects for system upgrades, migrations, and integrations, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing business operations.
- Collaborate with Business Technology team members and cross-functional departments to align IT infrastructure with business strategies and project requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and peers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Leverage modern DevOps engineering best practices—including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, SaltStack, Puppet, log aggregation, monitoring, telemetry, alerting, and automation—to scale and optimize business critical IT functions and services.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering/infrastructure/IT with a comprehensive background in Mac/Windows environments, network administration, AWS, and IAM.
- Familiarity with enterprise network management tooling like Meraki and the underlying protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, WAN/LAN, OSPF, BGP).
- Experienced with Windows 10/11/Server, Active Directory, Microsoft SCCM/Intune, and network and configuration management tools.
- Proficient in implementing, managing, and scaling IAM solutions, specifically Okta.
- Solid understanding of PowerShell, Python, Ruby or other scripting languages for automation and configuration.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
SALARY RANGE
Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location.
