Role Overview


Boom Supersonic is seeking a Durability & Damage Tolerance Analyst (DaDT) to join the Overture team. This role requires proficiency in the design, analysis and manufacture of composite and metallic aerospace structures. Successful applicants will have experience in development of hardware from concept to manufacture, and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Responsibilities


  • Preliminary and detailed design of composite and metallic aircraft structures
  • Classical analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures
  • Develop and implement fatigue and damage tolerance assessment methodologies and criteria for different materials and structures
  • Generate Fatigue Spectra 
  • Conduct fatigue and damage tolerance analysis
  • Develop test plans, overseeing component and assembly level structural tests and incorporating design enhancements based on those results
  • Support manufacturing teams and external suppliers through fabrication and assembly of the aircraft

Qualifications


  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering with 10 or more years of experience in aerospace or an equivalent combination of technical education and aerospace experience
  • 10 or more years of aerospace structures design experience with certification experience
  • Familiarity with composite materials and processes, tooling, composite layup and assembly techniques: CMH-17
  • Thorough understanding of DaDT methodologies and processes; Demonstrated DaDT experience in at least one major OEM
  • Familiarity with FAR part 25 requirements, composite aircraft: CFR 25.751, AC25.571-1D, AC20-107B, CMH-17
  • Demonstrated proficiency with at least one CAD system - strong preference for Catia / 3DX
  • Demonstrated experience with FEA software - strong preference for Femap/Nastran and MSC products
  • Experience with component and assembly level structural tests
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to interface effectively with different engineering groups internally as well as existing and potential suppliers

Nice to have


  • Experience with automation tools: ExcelVBA, MATLAB, Python
  • Early development (conceptual, pre-PDR) aircraft program experience, or prototype aircraft experience.

Compensation


The Base Salary Range for this position is $120,000 - $165,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.Application Deadline - 6/28/2024
