Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab.It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve.We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands-on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology.Smaller is better.

About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in automation, design, and controls to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise and ability to independently manage projects from concept to completion, maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This role emphasizes rapid iteration of equipment and machine-to-machine, rather than large-scale industrial manufacturing lines.
Responsibilities
Design and develop end-to-end automation solutions for processes.
Create thorough documentation (CAD, drawings, design rationale, etc.)
Perform system integration across electromechanical systems and troubleshoot
Fabricate and assemble mechanical components and automation systems
Develop and implement testing protocols to validate system performance and reliability
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement them
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in mechanical engineering
Extensive experience in mechanical system design and rapid prototyping
System Integration
Motion controls
Python scripting and basic ML/computer vision software skills
Nice-to-have
Experienced in vendor management and sourcing quality materials
Experience with electrical noise mitigation

We’re an early-stage hardware startup with solid funding, world-class advisors, and a lab/office in San Francisco, CA. Atomic Semi is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $140,000 – $180,000 Compensation is determined within the range based on your qualifications, experience, and location.
