Our Finance Team is currently seeking a Tax Manager to help with our organization's tax planning and reporting.
About The Role
Nabis is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to oversee the organization's tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions. The Corporate Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the company meets its tax obligations in a timely and accurate manner, minimizes tax liabilities, and adheres to all applicable tax laws and regulations. The Corporate Tax Manager will work closely with the Finance and Accounting teams, external auditors, tax preparers, consultants and tax authorities to provide strategic tax advice and ensure robust tax risk management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with external tax preparers and manage the preparation, review and submission of Federal and State income/franchise tax returns workpapers and income/franchise tax returns.
- Manage the preparation, review and submission of all applicable indirect tax filings such as: Sales & Use Taxes, Excise Taxes and Gross Receipts Taxes.
- Oversee the preparation, review, distribution and submission of all required informational tax returns such as: Form 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-K and Form 8300.
- Ensure the timely filing of all company tax registrations, quarterly and annual filings with various state and local Departments of Taxation and the Secretary of State.
- Oversee the collection, periodic review and maintenance of customers business tax information, including Form W9 and Seller’s permits.
- Manage all tax payments, or payment plans, and resolve any tax-related issues, or disputes with tax authorities.
- Develop and implement effective Federal, State and Local tax strategies and positions to minimize tax liabilities and controversy while optimizing tax benefits.
- Advise leadership team on the tax implications of various business activities, mergers, acquisitions, and other various transactions.
- Conduct research on tax legislation and monitor changes in tax laws to identify potential risks, opportunities, compliance requirements and impact on U.S. tax provisions.
- Coordinate with external auditors on the preparation and review of the annual U.S. tax provision, effective tax rate, and income tax footnotes under ASC 740 in accordance with SOX.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all tax-related activities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address tax-related issues and support business initiatives.
- Develop, manage, and oversee the tax department’s annual budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals. Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide regular budget reports to the leadership team.
- Responsible for maintaining a relationship with external auditors, tax preparers and consultants and for the procurement of new or additional tax service providers.
- Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead or participate in special projects and initiatives related to tax compliance, optimization, process improvement/automation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5+ years of corporate tax experience. Knowledge on Partnership taxation is preferred, but is not required.
- Advanced Federal and State income tax technical skills and a strong understanding of ASC 740, accounting for income taxes in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Demonstrated experience in calculating and documenting R&D tax credits in accordance with IRC Section 41.
- Understanding of Section 174 capitalization rules related to applicable Research and Experimental expenditures.
- Familiarity with the calculation of tax and application of NOLs on Federal consolidated, State combined, and State separate tax returns.
- Familiarity with International tax concepts including: Foreign Tax Credits, Subpart F, Section 250, GILTI, and Transfer Pricing.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
