JOB OVERVIEW
The Tax Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local corporate tax filing requirements, interfacing with taxing authorities, researching issues, and managing tax projects as assigned.This position is a hybrid role and expected to be onsite in our Chicago office 2-3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own all aspects of tax compliance, including US Federal, state and local filings coordinating with external advisory firms. FBN operates in multiple global jurisdictions that require coordination with local accountants and firms to ensure timely and efficient filings.
- Oversee VAT tax issues on global purchases and sales and transfers of property and equipment.
- Drive the implementation of global tax strategies including transfer pricing, while considering IP and related implications.
- Provide subject matter expertise on corporate development activities including acquisitions, joint ventures and divestments
- Coordinate with the accounting team on the preparation and review of property tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
- Review FBN tax provision that is completed by an outside advisory firm.
- Assess and consider completing tax projects to maximize and protect tax assets, including net operating losses and R&D tax credits.
- Review, advise and provide guidance on tax issues with respect to 409A valuations, secondary transactions, and potential debt and equity transactions.
- Independently handle federal and state agency audit requirements
- Collaborate with internal business partners, with substantial cross-functional teamwork with accounting, strategic finance, legal, product teams, and people team.
- Own tax relationships with external providers, including transfer pricing, global tax compliance, tax provisions and special projects as needed. Current providers include Big 4 and local firms with a significant presence in North America.
- Manage one direct report handling indirect tax.
What You'll Bring
- 9+ years of progressive experience in tax
- Ability to provide strategic direction on tax matters, while also being hands on.
- Experience working in operationally complex businesses, preferably with international experience.
- Excitement about working for a transformative company.
- Experience in both public accounting and at a company that has gone through significant growth.
- Comfort in working in global and cross-functional environments and able to navigate seamlessly between different functions, cultures and perspectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication necessary to build strong relationships.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite and Avalara.

This salary range may vary based on geography and the higher cost of labor in some metropolitan areas.
