Global Dimensions is currently seeking a CAT III Arabic Linguist for a position in Washington, DC.In this position:Linguists shall apply advanced foreign language skills, experience, and expertise to provide high-quality interpretation, translation, and transcription support during all OMC operations, including discovery translation.
In addition to expert language skills, linguists shall provide in-depth legal insight including ability to translate and transcribe legal terminology and work closely with prosecutors and attorneys to support the overall mission of commissions.Linguists shall provide linguist services from English into Arabic-MSA or from Arabic-MSA into English to include: interpretation, translation, transcribing, consecutive interpretation, simultaneous interpretation, conference mode interpretation, and court room interpretation. Services shall include providing interpretation for prosecutors, defense counsel, appointing authority, other experts, and their staffs and as needed by Commission members and the presiding officer, subject to the approval of the Convening Authority.
Requirements
- Must be cleared or eligible to be cleared at the Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Level (TS/SCI).
- May not have previously been employed or contracted by the United States Government or military services for work involving the “Rendition, Detention and Interrogation” program or any aspect of a criminal or intelligence investigation in support of a prosecution of a Guantanamo detainee.
- Reside in the National Capital Region.
- Interagency Linguist Roundtable (ILR) level 3 in English. CAT III linguists shall be able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and have broad enough vocabulary that he/she rarely has to ask for paraphrasing or explanation. CAT III linguists shall be able to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers, reasonably make and answer telephone calls, understand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, oral technical reports and public addresses on nontechnical subjects.
