POSITION SUMMARY:


In collaboration with the Managing Director, Care Services, the Director, Care Services is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and adapting programs and services associated with the care services priorities as defined in The Association’s Care Services Strategic Implementation Plan. This role works directly with Managing Director, Care Services and Home Office staff to develop strong partnerships with internal and external audiences with the objectives of continuous quality of improvement, consistency, and increased access to programs and services within the Mid-Atlantic territory’s service area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement operational plans in support of the strategic plan.
  • Responsible for hiring, supervising, and providing leadership to a staff of licensed professionals and care services support personnel with responsibility to orient, train, assign work and outline scope of authority for care services staff and/or outreach professionals.
  • Collaborate with Managing Director, Care Services and other Care Services Directors/Managers in assigned territory to ensure the services, policies and procedures defining the delivery of services to people living with ALS, caregivers, families, and community partners by Care Services staff are consistent with industry and The Association standards.
  • Oversee programs and services to include, but not limited to, the following: Quality of Life Grant, National Equipment Program, Support Groups, ALS Care Connection, educational programs, etc., as assigned by Managing Director, Care Services.
  • Assess and evaluate Care Services Programs; offer recommendations for updates, improvements, and future programs to Managing Director, Care Services.
  • Responsible for planning and directing implementation of the program outcomes and evaluation process.
  • Support the Managing Director, Care Services in establishing strategic community and professional partnerships and collaborations.
  • Identifies and resolves operational and service barriers within the assigned territory.
  • Participating in continuing education seminars, workshops, and conferences, as available and necessary.
  • Supporting the Managing Director, Care Services and Senior Director, Clinical Programs by:
  • Managing current clinic relationships and identifying potential multidisciplinary team referral resources.
  • Cultivate relationships with the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and Clinics to facilitate appropriate care for veterans diagnosed with ALS.
  • Partnering with the Managing Director, Care Services, establish working productive and positive relationships with multidisciplinary clinics not affiliated with The ALS Association.
  • Ensure all staff utilize Salesforce database accurately and consistently.
  • Supervise and provides direct involvement with complex client and family issues.
  • Oversee assigned program budget and monitor expenditures.
  • Continuing to be aware and informed on local and state resources, providing Care Services staff with appropriate education and awareness.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management in support of the Association’s goals and mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Directly supervises up to ten direct employees within the Care Services department
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraising; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving conflicts.
  • Conducts regular one-on-one meeting with assigned care services staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master’s degree in social work, healthcare administration, or another health/human service-related field, preferred; bachelor’s degree (BA) from a for year college or university with five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience in healthcare, community service, or related field.
  • Healthcare knowledge and experience required with non-profit experience preferred.
  • Experience working with people living with ALS, and/or other neurological disorders preferred.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of supervisory experience working with various nursing and allied health professionals and administrative personnel.
  • Proven managerial skills working with cross-functional teams and diverse projects/programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently; must be a self-starter.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products, patients or healthcare databases, Salesforce and payroll systems, preferred.
  • Must travel locally and/or nationally on Association business as required or requested.

The ALS Association's pay range for this position is $66,950 - $90,120 annually. The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties/requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation.

Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association.
