The Electra.aero Co-Op Experience
Electra.aero is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated high school and college students or recent graduates in various engineering disciplines (aerospace, mechanical, structural, manufacturing, electrical, software, etc.) to help in the development of electric vehicles for Co-Op opportunities in Fall of 2024 and Spring 2025.Our co-op experience is unlike any other! Interns gain real-world experience, working on actual projects all while applying theories and collegiate practices to help solve interesting and highly technical problems. Co-Ops can study in a variety of areas including aerospace engineering, flight physics, flight control simulation, modeling, manufacturing, structural design and repairs, electrical engineering, and more!Co-Ops last for 4 months - Fall 2024 starts in September 2024 - December 2024Spring 2025 starts in January 2025 - April 2025To maximize the experience for all co-op these positions are based in Northern Virginia and will require relocation to the area for the duration of the internship.
Only applicants currently enrolled in and/or recent graduates of Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate programs in applicable engineering disciplines will be considered for co-ops. Co-ops do require candidates be willing to work full-time in lieu of a semester of school.
Required Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate programs in applicable engineering disciplines (or related STEM discipline) and
- 0+ years of experience in relevant discipline areas (or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience).
Required Skills
- A strong work ethic and ability to proactively support engineering areas within a fixed-wing prototyping environment
- Emerging organization and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree progression is preferred
- Experience working on prototype development programs.
- Experience with flight operations of electric aircraft.
- Experience with flight test data reduction and aerodynamic and propulsion system analysis.
- Experience with MATLAB / Simulink.
- US Person (Citizen or Green Card) Preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of the projects some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. May need to lift up to 50 lbs.
Location:
HQ in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration on a complex program, this position requires daily onsite office hours.
Salary: Electra’s salary range for this position is: $39,000 - 87,000Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position.
