About the Job
We are actively looking for a Buyer for immediate hire to join our Procurement Department. This individual will join a team that is responsible for buying merchandise, commodities, and/or services to support our Sales, Manufacturing, and Operations organizations. We are looking for someone who has a strong drive, maintains an absolute ownership of their work, and has an ability to learn quickly on the job. This position is 100% in-person at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX.
The Work
- Create and maintain records of purchase orders, purchase order changes and purchase order confirmations
- Transmit purchase orders, purchase order changes and instructions to suppliers
- Update purchase orders with delivery dates, ship dates and tracking numbers
- Expedite orders as needed
- Process assigned requisitions
- Check for reorder point (ROP) parts that have fallen below the reorder point and order as needed
- Submit request for quotes and select suppliers for ROP and requisitioned items as needed
- Enter new or updated Supplier information in MAX and eSynergy
- Maintain Supplier Part Data in MAX (Pricing, Vendor P/N)
- Participate in negotiations with suppliers for better pricing, delivery, terms and support and other supplier management activities
- Participate in qualifications of new suppliers
- Attend production meetings and provide material updates
- Assist in Non-conforming Material Report (NCR) processing (RMA acquisition, NCR replacement expediting, negative receipt updates, weekly meetings)
- Assist Accounting in resolving pricing, freight and delivery issues, assist Receiving in resolving receiving issues, and assist other department to resolve any other supplier issues
- Assist and serve as backup to the Material Planner
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field
- 5+ years experience in procurement, manufacturing environment, product management, and supplier management
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree and APICS certification and 2+ years experience in procurement, manufacturing environment, product management, and supplier management.
- If not a degree, then must have GED and APICS certification and 5+ years experience in procurement, manufacturing environment, product management, and supplier management.
- Strong skill and knowledge of purchasing, including negotiation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to operate purchasing applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Able to work independently, prioritize and handle multiple deadlines, proactive problem-solver, team player with excellent negotiations skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective business relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
