This position is responsible for leading the tax accounting, compliance and reporting functions, to minimize the company’s tax burden and risks, and maintain our status as a compliant tax payer. This position will be a key member of the finance management team, will collaborate on the tax-aspects of critical matters, projects, and processes, working closely with the accounting, FP&A, legal, and corporate strategy teams.

What You Will Own
Ensuring completeness and accuracy of tax compliance and reporting for U.S. federal, state, local, GAAP, and SEC requirements by maintaining current knowledge of laws, regulations, accounting, and reporting standards, while advising management on needed actions.
- Quarterly and year-end tax provisions and disclosures.
- All aspects of domestic tax compliance and audits, including federal, state, and local sales/ income/telecommunications tax returns and other filings.
- The Avalara tax integration and related filing processes for all state/local taxes.
- International tax compliance, intercompany agreements and transfer pricing.
- Vendor, partner, payment processing, and other 1099 filings.
- Oversight of the tax landscape – to research and interpret, and assist with the ongoing analysis of tax positions and internal controls, and to identify and address potential tax burdens and risks.
- Analyze business and financial forecasts to provide insights on future effective tax rates and tax cash impact.
- Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities to optimize our tax position and improve tax efficiency.
- Provide support for mergers and acquisitions, proposed and contemplated transactions, audits, and ad hoc projects.
- Improve tax function by identifying and implementing standard methodologies and tools.
- Actively partner across the organization to stay current with business developments and identify, assess, and communicate related tax implications
What You Need to Accomplish the Job
- Master’s degree in accounting and CPA required.
- 8+ years of corporate tax experience, including a minimum of 4+ years with big 4 or other larger international firm. In-house experience in addition to public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting for income taxes, corporate income tax compliance and audits (federal, state, and local), internal controls, U.S. GAAP, and SEC reporting requirements.
- Expertise in ASC 740 including domestic and foreign income tax provisions, uncertain tax position analysis, and valuation allowance analysis.
- Experience with the telecommunication industry and related taxes/fees preferred.
- Thorough understanding of and experience with the tax implications of public company equity compensation plans, including 162(m) limitations.
- Experience with M&A a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, identify, and address complex domestic and cross-border tax matters
- Ability to adapt in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
- Able to challenge the status quo respectfully and act as a catalyst within the organization.
