Vice President of Finance (Ithaca, NY or Philadelphia, PA)

Our core business efforts span three major areas: 1) the delivery of high-impact energy efficiency programs; 2) workforce development and industry training; and 3) the design and development of systems that create, manage, and analyze energy efficiency data.As the Controller/Vice President of Finance, you will play a crucial role in guiding our financial strategy and operations. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership to drive financial planning, analysis, and decision-making that supports our business objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of financial management principles.Depending on experience level, PSD may hire at the Controller OR VP level.
What will you do?
· Manage a team to oversee accounting operations, providing accurate and timely financial data for budgetary and financial decisions.· Interact with the Company’s external accountants to prepare annual audit, income tax, and sales tax returns.· Develop and maintain the Company’s budget and cash flow projections across the Company and individual business units.· Oversee finances to manage the Company’s operational and investment goals· Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive team to help guide strategic planning, company initiatives, and tax planning· Maintain forecasts for company-level performance while also assisting business units with developing and maintaining financial dashboards· Maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors including meeting contract covenants, insurance requirements, and other business compliance needs· Manage the Company’s compliance with local, federal, and state regulatory requirements as well as payroll and tax compliance in over 20 states· Collaborate with other business unit leads to ensure timely delivery of projects and implementation of strategies to drive growth and scale across the Company
Need to Have:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA is preferred but not required)· 12+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting, with at least 5 years in a management role· Strong knowledge of financial budgeting, GAAP accounting, tax reporting regulations, and compliance· Leadership presence with a strategic vision and execution· Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and leadership skills
Nice to Have:
· 5+ years of public accounting experience· Experience with finance IT systems, particularly QuickBooks and Smartsheet· Experience in the energy efficiency industry
This position will be out of either our Philadelphia or our Ithaca office. It is a hybrid position which includes 20-40% of time in the office and the remainder of time working remotely.
Physical Demands: Frequent use of the computer requiring periods of sitting and close audio-visual concentration. Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.Work Environment: Office work is performed in an open and collaborative environment.
