Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Hardywood is currently seeking a motivated and well-rounded Maintenance Technician. This position will oversee preventative and on-call maintenance tasks for Hardywood’s two facilities. This position requires mechanical aptitude, including but not limited to the responsibilities listed below. Candidates must be a self-starter and willing to accept “operational responsibility” for equipment, the building, and the facility grounds. The position may require working outside of typical business hours at various times throughout the year.

- Accountable for upholding and abiding by a “Safety First” environment. Complete tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively work to attain department and brewery goals and objectives.
- ??Accountable for and actively participates in preventative maintenance (PM) programs on all production-relevant and facility-relevant systems including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire safety, HVAC, facility structure and grounds, and their related components.
- Coordinates with other departments as needed to complete work necessary.
- Accountable for the consistent monitoring and maintenance of all brewery systems including brewhouse and cellar equipment, canning and bottling lines, keg washers and fillers, pumps, motors, chillers, boilers, gas lines, air compressors, equipment controls, malt delivery, etc.
- Respond to equipment emergencies to resolve issues independently, through the team, or utilizing external vendors and partners to ensure brewery process flow experiences minimal unplanned downtime.
- Schedules and prioritizes preventative maintenance (PM) repair programs on all applicable equipment in coordination with Production team leaders to minimize downtime.
- Accountable for the management of work order assignments, parts inventories and usage, work order completion, communication of work completed, and accuracy of all other relevant maintenance data contained within.
- Responsible for accurate and organized record keeping of all mechanical design, equipment schematics, building drawings, etc.; Maintains foundational knowledge of all the above.
- Identifies repair and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of outside contractors or vendors; technical documentation of changes to equipment, systems, and records;
- Reports regularly on equipment and/or project status updates with the Production Management Team including Brewmaster, Brewing Manager, and Director of Production.
- Collaboration with Brewmaster and Director of Production on the annual departmental budget and capex planning
- Aides in training of less experienced Production team members in maintenance troubleshooting and assistance in minor repairs.
- Stewardship in Sustainability, with a keen eye toward opportunities for improvements in the process
- Assists in managing the installation and commissioning of new equipment in collaboration with the Brewmaster, Brewing Manager, Director of Production, and applicable Production team leaders

- Electrical systems installation and/or design experience highly preferred.

- Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
- Proactive and highly effective multi-tasker with the ability to manage time efficiently.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crawl and climb
- Able to lift 60 pounds regularly.
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of related experience in manufacturing/production setting within the maintenance Field.
- High School diploma required, associate degree or Certified/Technical Training Certification for industrial maintenance or another related field preferred.
- Electrical systems installation or design preferred
- Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms proficiency
- Brewery and/or food processing experience is preferred.
